Default Question About ic502 OR ic402

I'm trying to find out some information for a friend of mine who has been with Nextel for about a year or maybe a little more. They currently have an i530 phone and their service has kinda faded in the last few months.Would it be possible to purchase either an ic402 or ic502 phone outright and just change out the sim card from the i530 to either of these phones or will they have to have the phone activated at a store. They are not wanting to extend their contract if at all possible. Thanks for you help and your time !!!!!

I don't think it would be possible to do this. It would be changing plans from Nextel to PowerSource so you need to have it activated. You can switch between Nextel phones with the SIM but the PowerSource phones need activating because they use CDMA also.

When we were upgraded from the 530 to the Buzz by the county, they had people there that had to register the phones on the network due to them primarily being a CDMA phone, you can't just pop the SIM over & it won't work.
