Default So i took my i850 to APS wireless....

yea, well, i bought my nextel in july 06 and this past week it would just cut off, and not come back on, but if i put the charger to it, for a bit, it was on again, but then if a callcame in and i was on the phone for 2 mins, it would somehow get drained and shut off again, so i went to an authorized repair center, has anyone ever heard of APS wireless? one of my buddies says he gets all his work done there on his phone. So i took it out there, and i have no service protection agreement, and i asked them to upgrade software and fix the battery issue.

Thing is, i never knew phones needed software upgrades. Is this just a nextel thing or IDEN thing? i know many cingular users and i have asked them if they have upgraded software on their phones for newer versions and they look at me like i have 6 heads. so the guy told me to come abck monday for the 1 upgrade my phone has.

Does anyone here regularly take their phne to one of these stores and get it all cleaned up and upgraded and up to date with things? and if i tell them just to do the works on it, and get me up to date, what will they do exactly? does anyone have any things i should make sure gets done to my phone, like i said, i only bought it in july/2006 its an i850 and i am very happy with it prior to this lil battery issue, but what else could be upgraded on it if anything? will they do all they can while they have it?

Rollindown95, I have had the software in my Nokia 6340i updated by a Cingular store technician three years ago. Two and half years ago, Cingular got out of handset servicing. I would have to find a third party to do that service again, also.

question, if one calls nextel customer care, are they knowledgeable about phone upgrades or do they striclty handle complaints/problems? and let the repair centers handle the upgrades and software? can nextel customer care tell u if u need an upgrade or if there is new software out.

Cotech, how did u know u needed to update software, did u just go in to the store by chance and see if there is new software out?

I read of a version #.## being available, and checked the number against the version in my handset. Or, I was in to pay up in person (just in time, too late for mail), and visited with the tech while there (a technical news source). There was more than one update, over the two years the 6340i was available new.
