Default Improving Coverage?

Do you think Nextel will ever improve coverage in Northern Michigan or in the Upper Peninsula ?? Because right now their coverage is very spotty in northern lower michigan, and have nothing in the U.P

Also, I dont' kno if this a rumor, but isn't Nextel going to "die" by like 2010 or something??

Because if that is true, than Sprint will have to some major improvements on their coverage in Northern Michigan, because they will lose all their Nextel costumers.

I used to have Nextel and I live in the thumb. When I had it, it was horrible. Their network is extremely overcrowded. Either that or they don't have enough towers to support even the smallest number of people. I doubt that they will add any towers to the upper pennisula since in 2010 they will likely start to try to shift their Nextel customers to Sprint since the iDEN technology will die then. And hopefully Sprint puts up towers where Nextel has theirs especially here in the thumb where there's only Dobson, Thumb Cellular, and Nextel.

It won't die BEFORE 2010. iDEN will be around through at least 2010 according to Sprint/NEXTEL.

I drove through the U.P. twice this year and coverage does suck for NEXTEL. But I didn't see a lot of reasons to add it up there.

I went to antennasearch.com and typed in my address and stuff, and I looked at one of the towers near my house and it said Nextel License Holdings 4.

It's has 10 of those license things.

I thought that Nextel has panels on it, but they don't! So why would they have 10 holding licenses??? What are those??

I was confused also. went there and none of the sites in town say sprint or Nextel. Maybe they tag on with someone elses towers? pay rent for usage?
So does anyone have any idea without driving to the gate and physically looking for there placard?

Most of the time they won't be blatent about who they are. Typically the door will have a nameplate on it if you can't tell via the emergency number on the gate. It's required by law to have certain RF exposure notification signs around the site fencing and sometimes the signs will have the carrier name or phone number.

Sprint, Cingular and Nextel usually place their names right on the site equipment enclosure or on the fencing. I have never seen Verizon do this.

I keep seeing a white Sprint truck with a bunch of antennas driving around town. We dont have Sprint up here, so do the Sprint guys also do Nextel towers, or do the Nextel guys have a truck that says Nextel on the side
???

The vehicles that maintain the Sprint CDMA equipment and the Nextel brand are all labelled 'Sprint' from what I've seen.
