Default Alltel Cutting UP Analog Service?

I use an old Motorola bag phone from Alltel at a remote camp in the central Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Service during a February 2005 snowmobiling trip was excellent. Upon my return this April the service was essentially unusable. The signal strength is reduced and the phone is always roaming. I figure that Alltel has degraded its analog service but I cannot get a confirmation from the company or the local vendor. I knew that this day was coming but I wonder if anyone out there has any information on this.

what is your prl #?

actually just press *228 wait a couple seconds then press 2, that will update your prl to the new 505. That should help the problem, the prl tells the phone which towers to use and whatnot, things change all the time so hopefully that will help.

Most carriers marginally support analog, they do just enough to keep the signal up. In the past they would optimize it, they don't concern themselves with it too much anymore.

Does Alltel sill let people change there plans with AMPS/NAMPS phones??

Or like almost all cellular providers that is not an option today
