voicemail password Motorola V505

Trying to help a friend with her cell.There is a voicemail phone# in voicemail setup.Notification is on.A voicemail has been sent,received and is waiting to be heard on her phone.When trying to hear the message it asks for the password.She doesn't know the password.I have read all material that came with the phone and haven't found out how to deal with this issue.I see the voicemail notification icon at startup.Is there a way to access a voicemail message without having to input the password manually? THANKx

If this is a new account you first have to set up a personal pass code,
so first like you already did

press and hold 1

you will be instructed to setup your own pass code

then just follow the voice prompts

If you had already set up a password and forgot the code call customer service so that they can reset your pass code.
