razr v3xx on Tmobile can not hear outbound ring when connected via bluetooth

Hi all,

This is my first post here, and this forum looks very friendly and responsive.

I recently bought a new and unlocked razr v3xx from ebay to replace my dying old razr v3xx on tmobile network. The new phone pairs up all right with the bluetooth function of my car's built in navigation and I can make calls and all, but I can not hear outbound rings when a number is dialed. Only when the other person speaks or it goes to voice mail that I know that I am connected. This is not the problem with my old razr.

Does it have something to do with my career? Do I have to call tmo and ask them to change some settings on my phone or could this be something wrong with my new phone?
