v262 and data kit
greetings, all. i'll try not to be too newbish, but i'm sure i may come off that way anyways. i recently bought my fiance and i new motorola v262's. i'm a customizing kind of guy, so i opted to also buy the data kit with mobile phone tools (mpt). i know that others have made this work, with ringers and all, but i can't seem to get mine to work. i'll start from the top...
i installed the software, paying special attention to not plug in the phone via usb. i went ahead and upgraded mpt to (i believe) 3.11e. i restarted my computer. i opened mpt and it immediately asked how i would connect my phone (usb, bluetooth, ir). i select usb and click next. now it tells me to connect the phone via usb and it will detect my phone. i plug the phone in and it hangs. it doesn't do anything. mpt isn't locked up because i can click back and it goes, but it doesn't detect my phone. i click cancel and it loads up the mpt without phone detection (bare bones; allows you to get to the settings). i click menu > setup > general setup. i click the communication tab and click 'change modem'. it doesn't detect the phone, it just detects my software modem. i click 'next' and it gives me 4 options on the left: bluetooth adapter, motorola cdma, " gsm, " tdma (where " = motorola). i select 'motorola cdma' and on the right, i choose 'v262'. i click next and it gives me the summary: connection to toshiba software modem comport: tapi modem. i click finish. i already know that this won't work, because it's not using the motorola usb driver. but i try anyways. no success... big surprise. still doesn't detect my phone. knowing what i know, i go back in and try to add a device. i select motorola usb modem from the list and click next. this is where i get stuck. it asks which com ports i want to assign it to, but i don't show any and i can't click the next button.
if someone could help me out with this, i'd be greatly appreciative. thank you in advance.
