Question V710 / Hs850

I have successfully paired these. However need some help.

There are 2 scenarios here:

1) Boom closed. There is an incoming call. Supposedly by opening the boom the headset will turn on and call answered.

2) Boom opened. There is an incoming call. Should be able to push the button on the headset to answer the call.

However, this does not seem to work unless I first go to phone tools, settings, connection, bluetooth link, select, handsfree, turn bluetooth on. I do not think I should have to do this everytime I want to use the earpiece. Is there some sort of setting I am missing here so I can use the headset without all this trouble. Thanks!

On the phone, do you have BT set to on?

I have the 710 and 850. Just make sure you have the phone BT set to on as CWick said and it should be "set it and forget it." You don't have to do it everytime...if you use the headset often, just leave BT on. I haven't noticed any real battery hit by doing so.

The headset is quite impressive...establishes a link from the time I open the boom to the time I have it on my ear without any noticeable lag. All in all a nice headset. I have now had the 850 going on 2 weeks and I have only charged it once! ...that is with daily use.

I think you may also need to set your phone to "automatic answer" it also gives the option to set how many seconds before it does...

How is the sound quality? Have you compared it to any other device such as the HS 810 or 820.

The audio quality is about the same as the 820 in my opinion. The big drawback I feel with the 850 is range. With the 820 I was able to walk around my house (50 ft or so) without any noticeable drop outs or static...it was quite impressive. That is not the case with the 850 however. I get 15 maybe 20 feet before I hear noticeable static. It's not a problem for me, as my phone is usually on my hip or nearby desk. However those that stray from their phone may find this to be a problem. Keep in mind too, I have the Euro version, so their may have been some government restrictions set on BT transmission...but I can't be sure of that.

Overall though, I am happy I returned the 820 for the 850. I got it for the same price, and love the boom. Your mileage may vary.

You are very right about the 820 range, I have left my phone in my car and have gone into my house and have been able to use the phone with no problem. I have a very large house and can go from one end to the other without losing too much.

I have an HS820, which has worked well (but I REALLY hate the method it turns on...).

My father just purchased an HS850... I like the boom idea, and am considering changing to it, but it seems really noisy. I believe that most of the noise is caused by the boom mike scraping against his cheek.

Has anyone else found this to be an issue? Is there a simple solution to this problem?

I use the HS850, and when i'm on a call the person on the other end can never tell i'm on a headset, no noise at all.

I ocasionally have people tell me that it sounds like it is rubbing on something, but I am concious of it, so I try to keep it situated in a way that is away from my cheek.

I also get no complaints from people on the noise...

It's not out in the US yet -- You are stuck with ebay, pricegrabber, or do a froogle search.

I just had a friend buy one on ebay. I haven't talked to him in a few days, so I don't know how it is working out for him...
