Cool Noob bluetooth connection question

Sorry for the noobie question but I am having difficulty making use of my new bluetooth connection between my laptop (via a dongle) and my V3 Razr. It pairs properly and the connection is fine. I do not yet have mobile phone tools or any other software to manage communication. I had understood I can simply push files (i.e., ringtones, mp3s, pics, etc) to my phone using bluetooth (file transfer). But when I do this, I get an error that says something like "FTP service not found on target device."

What am I doing wrong? Also, any way to transfer contacts to the phone without mobile phone tools? Thanks in advance...

Using Motorola's Phone Tools application you can push and pull pictures, ringtones and phone book data to/from the phone. MPT supports the Bluetooth connection and the USB data cable.

With just a BT connection between your laptop and phone, I don't think you can do what you are trying to do. The phone will not just show up to your computer as a removable drive....like one of those USB thumb drives would..my V400 or V551 do not so I would guess the Razr would not either.

You need the Phone Tools application.
