I have about 5 hours into trying to get MPT to work with my V3m on Verizon. I have v4.21a installed with what I believe are the correct drivers, but cannot get MPT to even detect my phone. I have tried all the suggestions you have posted but have had no luck. I have read numerous threads pertaining to this problem and only get more confused. Can you help? Is there any advice you can offer? Thanks very much...

Question Re: Getting your V3C/M Connected

Hello, I have a new Alltel Fire-Red V3M and a brand new Compaq Presario V6105NR and I've successfully connected my phone as a modem via the cable and AxcessMobile. NOW... I want to use it as a modem via bluetooth. I've purchased a bluetooth dongle and software by BlueSoleil and installed it, it even recognizes my phone, I've paired them, and I've bonded, but I still can't get the V3M to connect???? Any suggestions??

Thanks,
Brenda

Brenda, have you signed up for the data plan from Alltel? I am on Verizon, and in order to use the phone as a modem (a.k.a. "tethering" or "dial up networking" DUN) with EVDO, I would have to sign up for their High Speed data plan for $60 a month. Im sure it is similar with Alltel.

Unhappy Re: Getting your V3C/M Connected

They did offer me some sort of plan like that but I declined. I really thought I could access it with bluetooth (wrong). I purchased the data cable kit, and it works great, but I really was hoping for the bluetooth connection, but its not work the $69.95 a month.

Can I save the MPT updates to a disk?

Hey Cincyball i've tried to install the p2k drivers for my Apm'd Mobile V3M but the drivers i've tried won't work, i tried:
E815-V710-DriverPack1
MSU106Drivers
Razr V3C Usb Driver.
The computer recongizes the phone and charges and everything, but once i try to use it with MSU so i can use p2k programs it wont work. You think you could help me? Thanks in advance.

I know you pointed to me over here but i still have no luck with it.

I dont believe so. I think it is similar to the Alltel V3m where u cannot sync. You can just take ur tf card out and put it in a card reader on the pc and just add the music that way into the /shared/audio folder. I dont have a Sprint v3m to verify this however.

Have you tried the drivertool4.21a listed on the first post in this thread? Also, if it doesnt work w/ the phone ON, try turning it OFF and connecting to see if it will install the drivers properly. Concentrate on getting it to charge via usb first, and then move on to the next step of trying to have it connected for different programs.

OK I installed it with drivertool4.21a and it successfully installed. I'm not sure if its charging or not because i have a full battery but even so, should it not say charging complete? Because with the old drivers it did charge. And now when I run MSU it won't even recongize the phone with the old drivers i tried it would but it wouldn't let me install the other drivers necessary to use p2k. Any more advice?

It should say charge complete. You hear the USB chime when plugging it in right? You can go into device manager and make sure it is listed as Motorola USB Modem. Also, u dont have any other program running when u open MSU do you? Try this. Plug in phone. Open MSU. It should try to install 4 drivers.

Hi, I only started to try to get my V3M connected to my computer yesterday, and I spent several hours combing the internet until I came here. I'm able to get the computer to recognize the V3M (Verizon) as a USB modem, and my computer will charge the phone. It stays under the "USB modem" classification on the Device Manager until I try to sync up my music. I push Sync Music on my phone then the computer recognizes it as a "MTP Device" sometimes and a "V3M" other times. I always tell the computer to do an automatic search for drivers, and sometimes I try to select some from a bunch I downloaded off of other sites. I'm completely stuck.

Sounds like you are a Verizon customer. Did u try running the MTPfix.exe listed in the very first post on this thread?

Also, syncing with Windows Media Center has proven to be a huge hassle. What version of windows xp are u running?

Well, connecting so ur phone charges isnt a problem. But the problem is trying to sync with Windows Media Player and using BitPim. The problem is typically linked to the caller id portion of Windows Media Center. I use XP Pro, so I have no way of testing fixes, but 99% of people who have had problems I cant fix, I have noticed they have MCE.

Well I came across a case of one person who was able to deal with the MCE problems at :http://forums.wirelessadvisor.com/ra...c-problem.html
However, I tried what he said and nothing worked. I also came across lots of evidence that MPT doesn't work on MCE, so I won't be able to upload any custom ringtones, which was the main motivation for getting my phone to sync up.

Sync is diff from MPT where that sync with wmp10 puts MUSIC on your phone in the 'my_music' folder (cannot be applied as ringtones), and MPT puts RINGTONES on your phone in the 'audio' folder. Motorola Phone Tools (MPT) does work with MCE, as my brothers comp is using it. But syncing, he cannot do. I have tried for the life of me. He has MCE 2005, not sure if that makes a diff or not.

Default Re: Getting your V3C/M Connected

The problem I have with MPT is that I cannot get it to recognize my V3M. Is your brother running MPT on MCE with a V3M or just another phone? My theory, which is pretty much just speculation, is that MPT would work with another phone besides a V3M, but because MCE has trouble recognizing my V3M, MPT also cannot recognize it. When I run MPT and try to install my phone, it says that it detects the phone but cannot recognize the model, and when I try to find a model manually, I can't find a V3M. I have found a V3cm, which I tried to use instead, but when I created a ringtone and tried to transfer it to my phone, I got another error message. I'm probably just going to take all the stuff (all the stuff linked in the tutorial and phone tools) I have on this computer and install it on another computer I have running XP. The internet on that computer is a little iffy, so I can't go around downloading all the files to it just through webpages.

My brother has a Verizon V3m. You have missed a pretty important thread. Basically, Verizon DISABLES the V3m so it cant use MPT to send FREE ringtones/pics. They WANT you to think the phone isnt capable so you purchase THEIR ringtones, and THEIR pics. Hard to believe? It's true. Check out this thread. It is desigtned to UNLOCK your Verizon V3m so MPT will recognize it as the V3MM (wher the last M stands for Multimedia), enabling you to create ringtones/pics, etc for free in its MultiMedia studio.

http://forums.wirelessadvisor.com/ra...work-razr.html

The major steps are on the first two pages...please post in that thread if you have any questions. I walked a guy thru the process step by step. Check out the success stories posted in the following posts once the walk-thru was completed.

You will be shocked once u have a grasp on what Verizon did to their customers.
