Default how to record conversations with the v3m

First, I've searched with no sucess.

I'm an airline pilot who deals with crew schedulers on a daily basis. They record conversations for the company's protection so I would like to record my conversations with them for my protection.

I know that the generic motorola v3's have this capability. As far as I know, the v3m does not. I would like to record conversations on my cell phone without carrying around the clunky radioshack adapter and a seperate recorder.

Does anyone know of a seem edit to enable this feature in my v3m like the other v3's out there?

Thanks very much

With the flip phone up/open, on the right side of the LCD screen is the Voice Key.

By pressing and holding this key down, you will get a screen theat says "RECORD NEW - Press OK to start recording".

when you are through recording press Stop.

you then have the option to save it or erase it.

Once saved you can retrieve/listen/rename/move the recording by:

Menu -> Get It Now -> get Tune & Tones

The recording(s) will be listed at the bottom.

Highlight one then select 'options'

From here you can
1.) make it a ringtone
2.) set as a ringer id
3.) rename
4.) move it to transFlash

hope that helps.

unfortunately, that only records my half of the conversation. The person on the other end of the line is not recoded.

Any other ideas?

Thanks!

some of the non-verizon v3's will record both ends of the conversation. Verizon has opted to disable this feature I guess. With other V3's, while recording a conversation, it plays an audible "beep" every 30 seconds so that the other party is aware of the recording. Since my airline has a corporate policy in place that the crew schedulers can and do record calls, the beep on my end is not necessary and not desired.

If you have a seem edit to re-enable the feature without the beep, that would be outstanding.

Thanks again!

You can get the list of SEEM's that we have put together. A lot of the SEEM's have been tested, some have not. Maybe you can find the SEEM you need.

Got to the following link and download the file on post 446.

http://forums.wirelessadvisor.com/ra...3c-v3m-15.html

Would be curious and appreciate it, if you find out or how, let us know for future queires.

law wise.. i believe it is illegal to record a conversation if the other person does not know it is being recorded.. which is why when we call call centers.. it says we may be recorded, so if you wish to record convos and use them in the future... you might want to warn them

It would be illegal to set the phone up to record w/o the beep. The beep is required by federal law. If you get it to work at all it will beep. If you don't want the beep you'll have to rewrite the firmware...

That's not true. As long as there is an agreement between the recorder and the recordee, then it is legal. In some states, all that is required is one party consent, but that is a moot point because at my airline, consent is mutual.

All I want to do is find the seem edit to enable call recording like the v3's from other carriers and not debate the legalities (because my attorney has already advised me on that stuff).

Thanks

hello,
i would also like to record a two-way conversation. i would use this for my business which cross country trucking and i record directions and also agreements made between myself and others. i have an LG8100 and can upgrade if need be. i have called verizon and received a variety of answers from; no it is not possibe to all you have to do is upgrade the firmware, and even been told that the newer phones have that capability. from what i can gather you can NOT get a phone in the states to do that because of privacy laws. ofcourse the govt seems to be excluded from that with the homeland security laws.

here is a phone from china which evidently has that capability.
Mobile Phone (K988) ¨C China Mobile Phone, Cell Phone, Oem Mobile Phone in Mobile Phone

my guess is that it wouldnt be compatable with verizon/US systems but atleast they are out there.

has anyone found a phone in the US that will let you record BOTH sides of the conversation?
is it possible to re-write firmware upload it to the phone to record both sides of the conversation?

Just a quick note to say V3M is correct. It depends on what state you are in. My state also happens to be a one party consent state, which means that as long as one member of the conversation knows they are being recorded, then the recording is legal.
