Razr V3m & Moto Phone Tools

Hi Crew,
Is there a better way to create play lists for music? Like with a pc and phone tools upload? I hacked my phone so I can use Moto Tools and also Windows Media player for sync. Media player does not seem to send playlists. Also. I think there may be a limit on the total number of songs contained in the phones playlist. I was adding and then it would not let me add anymore. Strange. Any ideas?

Are you storing you music on a TF Card? Or are you storing on the phone's internal menu? If you are storing on the internal memory there is a limit. If you're storing on the TF Card it will depend on the card size. ie 1 gig, 512 megs, 256 megs ect ect..

I am using Windows Media player to sync. Songs are saved to a 1gig card. I can see the songs on the card using Moto Tools under MMC(removable) sub directory my_music. Using a usb cable to make the connection. Not even close to the 1 gig limit. Thanks.

Didn't know the razr v4m was out. Maybe a typo? Anyways I have 1 episodes of seinfeld and dave chapelle on my phone Alltel V3c and also on my Verizon (Evil Empire) Razr V3m 4 episodes of seinfeld and dave chapelle.

On my Allel V3c it's loaded on the internal memory via bluetooth OBEX. On my Verizon (Evil Empire) razr v3m I just loaded on my TF Card. Both phones play movies just fine.

My son bought the King Kong 2005/2006 movie on the transFlash SD card.

Menu -> Get Pix & Flix -> My Flix -> choose what you want to watch

Unfortunately, the battery won't last long enough to watch a l-o-n-g playing
movie.

Go to this thread and follow the instructions to convert/move moives to phone/tansFlash card.

I have the moto phone tools 4.0, but the disc came without any documentation. Does anyone have a simple guide to using this software? I have installed the software on the pc, went thru the registration and got a message about unlocking my razr. Is it really necessary to unlock it? and how hard is it? THanks

If you have Alltel, you dont need to unlock it usually. What do you have? V3C? V3M? I didnt think they released the V3M yet, but need to know. Verizon users HAVE to unlock their phone to get MPT to work the way they want. But typically Alltel phone with the Motorola UI are all set. Let me know hwat phone and firmware you are running.

Thanks Cincyball, that sounds great. I do have an Alltel V3C. Where do I find the firmware version? I found the following: S/W version, PRL version, ERI version and something called Brew version. Which do you need?

CDMA phones lock? I thought locking was a GSM thing. Or is this a different type of lock?

HAHA...well, its not a CDMA thing solely. Its more so, Verizon. They disable bluetooth, they disable the multiMedia function of MPT. We have to seem edit the V3M to turn it into a V3mM so MPT will enable the MultiMedia aspect ofthe program. At any rate, it is locked pretty severely. So most of us flash to Alltel 4.04 firmware. Yes we lose the transflash card slot. But we gain the Moto Ui which has OBEX and OPP, as well as custom skins, better battery life, faster menu response, etc.

Yea, S/W is what I was looking for. It is prolly GATW_04_04_00R Or something liek that.

The S/W version is: GATW 03.16.10P I noticed your razr is flashed to Alltel 4.04. Do you have any idea what updates/upgrades are included in that version over the 3.16.10?? Is it worth the new version? If it's worth it, how do you go about updating?

I dont know EXACTLY what is different. From what I read, there were small glithces on the Alltel .03 f/w. Such as date showing u twice on the lcd? And I guess a few other small things. I just flashed straight to Alltel .04 so I dont know 1st hand. Here is a thread describing some differences.

This is an excerpt fro msomeone's post in that thread:

1) Tetris is now pre-loaded as an Axcess App
2) Modified error message for EMS messages over 20 segments
3) Fix for not being able to forward MMS messages containing a picture with text
4) Fix for sending/receiving MMS messages when MIN/MDN are split
5) CLR* feature (locks keypad) has been added
6) Corrects duplicate date

As for how to, you can do it yourself if you wish. You would have to download PST and the flash file, both free. PST is illegal to d/l so I wouldnt be able to post a link, but I could for the flash file if you are interested. The reason most of us flash our phones ourselves is b/c we are flashing Verizon firmware WITH Alltels, and obviously Verizon wouldnt do it( nor would u want them knowing as it would void the warranty). Uou see, Verizon has disabled OBEX and OPP from their firmware, thats why we WANT Alltels f/w. Plus it uses the Motorola UI instead of Verizon's UI. Not sure if you have seen Verizon's UI, but it has unchangeable red bars at the top and bottom of the screen. Also you cant change any skins. The menus are tab menus instead of icon menus (again the diff between Moto and VZW UI's). My reccomendation is going to an Alltel store that has a flashing station and have them do it for you since it is just updating your original. It might costr like $20 or something. But hopefully that has helped some.

R U referring to the modding sites? Have visited and read some stuff, wasn't sure I wanted to try anything too wild, yet. Phone is new and I really wanted to download some new ring tones based upon songs I already have on PC. That's why I purchased the MPT 4.0, thinking it would be pretty straight forward. I really just want to start there. Back to the MPT, can I just bypass the unlock question and access the MPT options? I'll inquire about updating the razr next time I'm at the cell store...

There was another odd thing about the razr. On almost every other cell phone I've seen there is always a calendar option as a skin. The razr doesn't seem to have one????

Yea, the modding sites have all the info, but again, a lot is for Verizon and Cingular customers whose phones are locked down. Your SHOULDNT be as you are on Alltel. Just bypass the lock question. Update you MPT to version 4.21a. Then plug in your phone and it hould autodetect your phone and have all the features availablke. Then you can use the MultiMedia Transfer Studio to transfer all the ringtones u want for free.

I dont believe so. Here is a link to the Alltel v3c skins. You can download them and intsall them with PST and P2Kcommander. There is plenty of info around if you are interested in loading up some custom skins, or just start a new thread in this forum and I wiould be happy tp help you out. This thread would be more for Motorola Phone Tools.

I have a razr v3m red sprint phone.

All I want to do is upload music onto my phone from my computer I've bought mpt and upgraded and all that good stuff but when I go to transfer a music file onto my phone it sends me "unable to communicate with device"

help please

now i did mine as the V3CM or what ever and it worked fine and im with alltel

ok where do i begin... I have my freind phone number set to a song "funkytown" relates back to childhood, anyways when she texts me i want it to windchime but it dont it does the funkytown.. Now i have seemed before and all that so i knwo someone goign to tell me it is in settings but i change it in settings and it dont work.. so when she textes me it dont windchime it playes funky town and i am lookign to change my theme/skin to garfeild any suggestions
