Yes it works with VZW and Motorola phones.

You will have to SEEM the phone though, so MPT or Motorola Phone Tools will work.

rwsrichard,

You seem to be a very helpful and knowledgeable person. Thank you in advance. I consider myself somewhat Tech capable, but I am not sure I understand the directions about installing MPT.

I have MPT ???, I think ver 2.8 I have used the online update to bring it up to ver 4.21. My Razr V3MS is already installed as a V3m, connected over "standard modem over Blutooth link" and works fine. ( I installed it using Autodetect Drivers, before reading this thread)

Now, to use the work around you described, ?

Do I need to delete tehe entire application and reinstall

what do you mean, use the 4.21 driver tool

when I install the new phone (I assume you mean Modem) Driver, which should I select manually

would you possibly walk my thick scull through this please?

Thanks again.

When you updated Motorola Phone Tools or MPT to version 4.21, the modem driver normally needs to be updated, 'cause the drive contains newly defined phone-drivers. It will now contain V3CM and V3MM drivers, just to mention a few.

If I understand what you said in your post, your phone is still working OK as is? If that is the case, I would not change it. If you want to though, just to have everything in-sync and up-to-date, download the 4.21 drivers, I will give you a link later in this post.

I would check to see how many Motorola USB modems are installed.

Start->Control Panel->Printers and Other Hardware->Printers and Modem Option->Modems tab

Motorola USB modem - should be the only Motorola USB modem listed.

If there is MORE then one Motorola USB modem listed, they will be numbered Motorola USB modem(1) through Motorola USB modem(nn), etc.....

If there is more than one, click on a numbered modem(nn) and then click on REMOVE. You will have to do this for every Motorola USB modem listed expect, one. You can keep the one 'Motorola USB modem' if you want. The new version of the drivertool will remove one Motorola USB modem for you, if it exists, then installs the newest version.

Run the DriverTool ver 4.21. After it installs, reboot your system and then let Windows recognize and install drivers for your phone as a modem. You have to turn off the phone, hook up the cable to the phone and then the PC. Windows will recognize it as a modem and then put the required drivers in place.

Now run MPT. IF you do not get the MultiMedia option, do not panic. Do the following steps to get the MultiMedia function. But be warned. My V3m phone uses the V3MM selection. My sons's V3m phone uses the V3CM selection so you may have to try each one to get it to work correctly.

When MPT display's the desktop phone:
1.) On the displayed phone, use the mouse to: Menu->Setup->General Setup->Communication the "Device Configuration Wizard" will launch OR "change modem" option will display.
2.) You will then be prompted to select a device. Choose "Motorola USB Modem" the click "next"
3.) The Detect Driver screen will appear
4.) Check the "Do not automatically detect the driver. Select from list" box, then click "next".
5.) On the next screen, Choose Motorola CDMA on the left and on the right, choose v3mm for Device model then click "next", then click "finish". If you do not get the MultiMedia option, then repeat these steps and try V3cm.
6.) You should now see multimedia studio as an option.

Read everything over and if you have a question, holler back.

Here is the DriverTool version 4.21

Here is a wiki to goto for help with the V-cast.

http://www.motov3m.com/tiki-index.php

Not sure about the 'register applications' when the phone boots. It has not happened to mine, that I am aware off. I would asked VZW about it. It is a free call at *611.

Also every month, around the 10th, you should do a *228, option 2. This will update your phone for all the changes they have made to the towers. They add new ones, get rid of some, change over some, etc.... It will not cost you naything and it it will help you with roaming and reception.

I am feeling a bit despondent.

it irritates me when others have no problem making something work and I continually fail (this does not happen often).

I followed you direction and everthing worked fine until the actual transfer.

I used V3cm and V3mm they both give me a MM studio button, wich is operational. I then go to the melody studio and "transfer to phone"... it the tries to connect to the phone and fails (oddly it will contect to the contacts)

was I supposed to SEEM something ? where did I slip

Sorry, I thought you had already SEEM'd the phone. For Verizon or VZW you will have to SEEM the phone to turn on transfer capabilites.

Here is the SEEM list for everything that you can do to your phone, that I am aware of. The SEEM you want is row 129:

Bluetooth OR USB file transfering MPT and E815 BT QBEX
Offset: 006a
Bit: 0
Setting: 1 - Note: 0 or unchecked is OFF; 1 or checked is ON

http://forums.wirelessadvisor.com/at...ms-for-v3m.xls

Here is a SNAPSHOT list of SEEM's for reference.
http://forums.wirelessadvisor.com/at...a-razr-v3m.doc

You will also need the Motorola Update Software or MSU.
https://rsd.motorola.com/download/Mo...are_Update.exe

You will also need P2K Seem Editor.
http://mark.cdmaforums.com/Files/P2KSeem4V710.zip

Here is the SEEM'ing instructions.
http://forums.wirelessadvisor.com/at...4&d=1159048741

Download everything and look over the SEEM's list and the SEEM'ing instructions. If you have a question, holler back.

Also note, that you can BRICK your phone and it will void your phone warranty.

There is a file that contains all the "original SEEM's" just in case you need to turn you phone back in to VZW. I will get that for you, also.

Default Telus RAZR V3c...no mp3 ringtones using latest MPT??

Hi,

Recently purchased Razr V3c with Telus Mobility in Canada...bought latest version of MPT (4.something) and even updated it (this was yesterday). Cropped a few 20 seconds clips from songs on my computer in mp3 format, hit the transfer button. Songs were successfully transferred to my V3c, BUT they only appear in my media library under 'audio'. When i go to personlize my ringtones, I cannot see any of the files I transferred to my phone! I can only listen to them in my audio library...help! How can I set them to be my ringtones? Thanks!

Is it the v3m u have? If so, do u have them on the internal memory, or on the transflash card. As a heads up, u can only apply mp3's as ringtones if they are stored on the phone's internal memory. If u have them on the phones memory, are u sure they are in teh correct folder? In MPT, which folder did u transfer them to? shared/audio? or shared/my_music?

Hi,

The model I have is the v3c although I have heard it mentioned that its the same thing as the v3m or sometimes v3cm(?) on several websites. It does not have a transflash card (and no card that can be removed from the phone). It DOES have internal memory however (32mb) which where the songs are stored. I can listen to the mp3's on my phone if i go to the Media Library section -> Audio. I did notice that there is a seperate 'ringtones' folder on the phone (accessed via MPT) as well as an 'audio' folder. In the melodies studio feature of MPT, the songs are automatically transfered to the 'Audio' folder on the phone when you ht the transfer button. There is no way to manually select the ringtones folder as the destination of transfer. There is also no way to 'right-click->copy' the mp3 files in the audio folder and then 'right-click->paste' them in the ringtones folder. Another note, the other files that came with the phone (mp3 and .mid) are not visible in the ringtones and audio folders of the phone. Only the mp3's i have transferred are shown. I realize it would most-likely work if I can somehow get the files into the 'ringtones' folder instead of audio. Any ideas on how? Thanks

Default Figured it out!

Got my mp3's to work as ringtones!
For those of you still stuck out there, heres a link to where I found out how:

http://www.wirelessforums.ca/forums/showthread.php?t=77

p.s. This works for the V3c from Telus or Bell, not sure about other V3 models. The P2k method did not work for me, but the BitPim method worked like a charm!

no, i want to make my mp3s into ringtones but above it talks about seeming and im wondering whether i need to have motorolla phone tools in order to make this process work in the first place, and if not what else can i use that is free. and also what is msu and where can i get it, if it is the link above that contains the drivers it doesnt bring anything up other than a screen telling me that the drivers were installed, nothing tells me whether my phone is connected or not.

The V3M doesnt have bluetooth capability to transfer files (a.k.a. OBEX file exchange). The only bluetooth file transfers that can be done on the v3m are IN Motorola Phone Toools, and you must perform some seem edits to do so.

To do the Vib+ring you will have to SEEM it.

SEEM pt 01
Viberate THEN Ring part 1
offest = 007b
bit = 3
set = 0 (uncheck to disable)

SEEM part 02
Viberate THEN Ring part 2
offset = 007b
bit = 4
set = 1 (check to enable)

This all seems so hard just to get a ring tone. Is there someone I can take my phone to and have my music file that I downloaded from the computer turned into my ring tone?

Actually, that isnt the way to get a ringtone. The 2 seem edits you need are:

1) Seem 2742, Record 1, Bytes 0, Offset 006a, Bit 0 - Check to ON
2) Seem 2827, Record 1, Bytes 22, Offset 0006 , Bits 0-2-3-6 (On) , Bites 1-4-5-7 (leave Off)

After those seem edits, Motorola Phone Tools (MPT $29.90) will recognize your phone and you can create ALLLL the tones u want for free)

These 2 are REQUIRED on YOUR phone. Verizon disables the ability to transfer your own files. So each phone must be RE-ENABLED no matter who's computer you hook it up to. Either way you must hack your phone. Keep in mind it COULD brick your phone, and in turn void your warranty. It isnt difficult, but thats the disclaimer. Or you can just pay Verizon $3.99 for each one too.

The Windows Media Player sync only lets you put music on your phone, but u cant turn them into ringtones. Not that u would want to anyways b/c ringotnes only need to be 30 secs long since voicemail picks up. Any longer and u would be wasting space.

Default Re: wma file into ringtone for RAZR V3m?

ok, i've been trying for days to make my own ringtones and put them on my verizon razr v3m. so far, i've been able to make a 28 sec ringtone using Audacity. Then i made a recording on my phone, saved it to the micro sd, put the micro sd in my computer. then i put the file name of the recording over my mp3 i made. I put my micro sd back in my phone and its in the sounds folder, and i can listen to it with no problem, but there is no way to set the thing as a ringtone. I even tried changing the .qcp to .mid cause i noticed that the ringtones were named .mid and i can still listen to it on the phone and everything but there is no option to set it as a ringtone. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated seeing as how i've been trying to do this for days on end now.
