First off, it's not possible to transfer ringtones phone to phone with bluetooth on the razr.

Second, for the transflash music stuff... I'm not sure you really want to transfer the files on your transflash to your phones memory, you're just trying to play the music from your transflash on your phone? I'm guessing that's what you're trying to do so... how did you get the music onto the transflash? If you synched through media player, then everything should be good to go and you just go into get it now, get tunes and tones, and manage music, then manage music, which will take you into the little music player. If you did it the other way, by loading them onto your card from your computer directly, it should be the same, but you could encounter some problems, the songs must be in wma format, the names have to be under, I think like thirty five characters? And some people have had problem with their songs being "protected" vs. "unprotected" I'm not sure which was the problematic kind. The only reason you'd want to transfer the songs to your phones memory from the card if you wanted to use them as ringtones, and I don't think there's a way of doing that with music... the ringtones can be in mp3 and I'd do the ringtones stuff through either p2kcommander or MPT.

Default To clarify on ringtone "transfers"

I've read up to 30 pages on this thread. I've searched this thread and several other forums. I just want to ask a few questions and clarify some information... I'm sorry if this is a repeat of questions....

1. I already sync to wma10 without problems now. If I were to install BitPim now, would I loose that ability? Would that mess up any drivers I have intstalled already?

2. Using BitPim will I be able to "upload/transfer" mp3 ringtones to my V3M verizon provided cell without seeming anything? Or will I still have to seem something to get them to work?

I hope someone can answer that so that I can stop reading my eyes are going buggy.

1. You shouldn't loose the ability to sync with wmp when you install bitpim, but installing programs and such that all use your phone may lead you to need to do the driver install a few times. I had to reinstall drivers many times but I was dealing with bitpim, mpt, and wmp. I think mpt was what did it, but after a while I got very used to installing the drivers and it wasn't a problem if they stopped connecting for a sec. Once I ran the programs several times I eventually got a place where all programs could run without needing reinstallations. So, you MAY need to reinstall drivers. Do you have the drivertool? It's VERY helpful, it uninstalls all previous drivers and the installs the correct ones. I ran that every time I couldn't get wmp to work. I don't know if they've come up with a new drivertool since I did all this, I do feel like I've seen one, but the drivertool I have requires that I run the mtp fix file before plugging into my phone. Once you do it a couple more times you'll have it down and it won't be a problem.

2. As far as I've heard you can't add ringtones to your phone with bitpim. Bitpim is great for overwriting or deleting files from the system, but not so great at adding. I'd suggest using p2kcommander for ringtones. This is another program that allows you to browse the file system and you can add ringtones into the specific folder with this program. There are TWO files you will need to delete (they replace themselves) in order for your phone to index all the ringtones and show your added ones. One of them is mytones.db or something like that, the other one, not so sure. I'd run a search on p2kcommander or maybe "mytones" and see what comes up. Lots of people have done it this way so there should be some helpful guides. There are a lot of step by step guides at hacktherazr.com, and one of them should show you how to make your own ringtones and get them on your phone. They may even have the program for download in their downloads section. You can also use MPT (motorola phone tools) but it costs money. It's a pretty cool program though. That's the way I do it, and it does not requring the deleting of those two files as I mentioned earlier. Also MPT requires a seem edit, p2kcommander doesn't, I believe, so using that method you shouldn't have to do any seem edits. Bitpim won't require it either.

Hope this is helpful! Let me know if you have any other quesitons.

Awesome!! Yes, that information is very helpful. I can install drivers, that's not an issue there. I have the drivetool and then I also have some mtpfix or something like that from motorola to install to get things to work.

As for part two of my questions... I'm very excited because I was worried that deleting those 2 files that everyone keeps talking about would damage the warranty of my phone and I've been avoiding that like crazy. (I'm just not that gutsy yet ) If they recreate themselves, then that's not a real seem edit is it?

I've not done a search for "mytones" yet either. I've only ever searched for ringtones and stuff. I'll check out p2commander a bit more. I have just seen lots of posts where you have to have like 2 other programs running with that program and I thought downloading the 1 BitPim would be a bit easier to handle. Hehe... I'm attempting to go a more "free" route for these phone changes we would like to have too so that's why I've not gone for the MPT program.

OH here's the directions that I had been looking at for BitPim with ringtones. It comes from page 5 post #142. (I told ya I'd been reading! Hehe... ) I'll do some more hunting. The only odd thing I see about it is the renaming the files as midi's. Does that make that much of a difference? I'm was hoping this method would work.

==============================================
By the way, here is some info about ringtones, mp3 and BitPim.
You need BitPim, mini SD card (flash card), cable. No seem edits. Keep the phone as it is.
-------------------------------
First prepare the flash card. Format it on PC using FAT32. Shut off the phone. Insert the card. Start the phone. Probably you can format the card by the phone, but I just trying to share how I did it. So, it is up to you to check different way.
-------------------------------
Playing mp3.
Rename your *.mp3 files to *.mid.
Put them to the root directory of the TF card.
You can do it directly on PC or by BitPim via cable.
Reboot the phone, you can play now all those files. To keep the mp3 files here is a wasting the time and pace. You can play them only one by one. You can not use player. So, this is good only as the first step to add ringtones. To listen them all, synchronize you phone.
-------------------------------
Adding ringtones.
Move mp3 ringtones renamed to mid from the root directory of the TF to the phone:
Get It Now -> Get Tunes & Tones (All of the available files appear on the bottom).
All preloaded ringtones have 2 Options:
1. Set as ringtone.
2. Set As Ringer ID.
There are no options to move or delete.
All added files will be marked by C (CARD).
For them you have only 2 following options:
1. Rename.
2. Move.
Select needed file -> Options -> Move. It will ask you to move audio to the phone. Select YES.
You can move as many files as you want.
When you are done, using BitPim go to the root directory of the phone and deletes 2 files: TmpTneDB.db and MyToneDB.db.
Reboot the phone (by BitPim if you want to). Now all of your ringtones are ready.
All audio file phone keeps in Motorola/Shared/Audio folder. Only the phone has access to that folder. By BitPim you can only read/save the files. When you try to add or overwrite existing files, BitPim shows the message similar to “This folder is locked by manufacture”.
========================================
EDITED:
I forogot to post this section of directions too. Apparently it's a tad bit difficult to get BitPim to recognize a V3m phone so I'd do this too install BitPim. Comes from page 7 post #206.

Now launch BitPim. Open BitPim Settings. Select Phone Wizard. Under carriers select Verizon. Manufacturers/Motorola. Models/V3cm. Click next. For communications port setting select auto. After the Available Ports are refreshed you will see available and unavailable ports. Your Motorola USB Modem should show up under Available Ports. Select Motorola USB Modem and then OK and OK. This will take you back to the main BitPim screen. Select edit then Phone Info. You should now see the Phone Info Dialog and your V3m information should be there. Click OK to close info box. Select View and then View Filesystem. Select the Filesystem icon in the tree view (on the lower left) and you should be able to browse your file system. Good luck.

Default p2kcommander AND sync with wma10... is it possible?

Okay, after playing with all sorts of fun programs today and basically messing around all day here's what I've found. Hehehe...

BitPim is very nifty. Works great with photos. If you use the directions above for a verizon supported phone, it won't work for ringtones. SIGH OH and if you want to move files to your removeable sd micro card root directory through BitPim you basically ADD a new file to the mmc folder. That took a bit of figuring out since it's not listed in directions anywhere. Using BitPim and syncing with wma10 is possible too.

Now I'm on to p2kcommander... wow... what a mess that created for me. I installed the MSU and it caused my phone's drivers to get all outta whack for syncing with wma10 now. I CAN upload ringtones though and they work perfectly!! p2kcommander is just like an FTP program to me so that makes it very handy... I already knew how to move around in it and whatnot.

The only thing I don't like is that I cannot sync with wma10 while I've got the drivers for p2kcommander installed. That MSU thing makes my phone look like a Sprint phone in my Device Manager as opposed to the usb modem needed for Verizon.

I hope that all makes senses. I guess my only question/concern is to be able to sync to wma10 AND use p2kcommander for uploading ringtones without switching drivers each time. Is it possible?

OK, got a mini usb to stereo phones adpater for RAZR V3m, transflash and loaded wma files. it all works as expected, BUT

it is piss-poor mono, and tinny, too.

Is there a firmware upgrade or hack to improve the player?

Does anyone have the motorola brand headphones? Do they output in stereo? How did you test (song known to play back and forth, other method)?

I got a Mybat (china) MOTK1MHDFRADAP001. it has a 3.5 mini stereo jack (not hardwired to headphones like motorola). I want to use the player to input to various things, not just phones. i want stereo output and maybe some more drive, even at the cost of battery life.

the mybat thing allows call answer and has microphone. I have to think the device within is same as motorola...I have not broken it open yet...

yes, use micro sd and a card reader. put wma audio files in a folder called my_music. put card in phone and you have music on phone. if you don't create the folder, phone will build file structure upon first power up with card in--after that, keep filling up the my_music folder with a card reader.

Must be wma or get new firmware. if you put an mp3 on there, expect trouble (hangs phone OS). Must be in my_music. use the folder the phone created when you started the phone with the transflash in there. start phone with card in phone with wma files in my_music. push menu, slide left to "get it now" and push OK. scroll down to number 3, "My Music" hit OK. two main items at top, get v-case and play all songs. then below that, a list of all your tunes should auto populate. pick one and hit play...

I think the first time, it did something like "loading media" or similar. do your initial tests with just a couple files until you get it working. delete any mp3 files.

I've tryed and tryed and tryed and tryed and tryed and tryed that, but it never shows up, and if the files are from windows media player, then they are in .wma form right?

Also, i'm wondering if formatting the card has anything to do with it

I had to try a couple of times. after you put the card in the phone and power up, are there any files created? is one called my_music? in your windoze exploder, use tools | folder options | view and check or uncheck boxes until file extensions are visible. then you will know you have wma.

media player will play mp3 files, if you don't show extensions, you might not know what you have.

winamp with transcode (both free) can convert mp3 to wma. it is beyond the scope of this thread.

when I had mp3 files on the card in the phone, the phone did not like it at all.

Oooo.. Yes! Thanks for that info. I already have all the appropriate drivers, but to have them explained and laid out like that was very handy.

I'm pretty sure that I now have to switch drivers back and forth depending on what I wanna do. Kinda irksome, but I can handle it.

I have heard some bad things about those converters, that they come out mono and such. I have the motorola stereo headphones with the little button to answer calls and stuff. They ARE stereo, for sure, and they're really good quality. It's also pretty nice to be able to hear something in both ears when talking on the phone. I think motorola would be the best way to go on these because I would assume others need to go through a converter? And the converters I've heard are not the best unless you find the EXACT one that no one seems to be able to find. Some people say there are mono converters and stereo converters but then one person was getting mono out of the ones that said stereo so... I dunno, doesn't seem like the best way.

DEESTER: I don't know about the drivers for p2kcommander and wmp... I don't use p2kcommander, couldn't get it to work and gave up when I got MPT to work. I can run bitpim, mpt, and wmp with the same driver, and I've heard of other people being successfully running a bunch of different programs without big problems switching between, but I do NOT know if p2kcommader was one of those programs. I guess if p2kcommaner takes a different driver then you will have to switch back and forth?

Also, I don't know about that bitpim thing for making ringtones...? But you MAY be able to by creating files in the phone to overwrite. You could make some couple second recordings of nothing, then find them in bitpim, and overwrite them with your ringtones. Not sure how well the sound would be becuase you'd have to overwrite them with a file that was named the same thing, which means it would be .qcp or whatever that filetype is, and songs aren't the highest quality in that format... not sure. But if p2kcommander is running for you I'd do that, I haven't heard anyone successful with ringtones in bitpim.

monkeyluv43ver: I'm sorry you haven't had luck with getting the music on your phone. I suggest what msulka said about showing the file extensions because they could be mp3 files since wmp plays those no prob. If you had a cable you could transfer them through wmp cause it will convert before adding them to your phone, but they do need to be in wma format for sure, and they may not all still play due to "protection" or "licencing" I've heard a couple different things about that. That's why wmp is the best way becuase it takes care of all that. But it should work as long as you first format the card in your phone, then put it in your comp and add the wma files, must be shorter than thirty something characters in the name.

You can go to get it now, get tunes and tones, and manage music, and that takes you right to the music player, where you can sort the music by different methods or just play them randomly, I found this menu more useful than the list of songs in my music.

And you checked the file type by making your computer show all file extensions? And they're .wma?
