no, I set up a dial-up connection on my laptop. It doesn't cost anything except airtime, so I only use it on nights and weekends (mainly at work). You can also do it using MPT, in which case you don't need to set up the new connection.

There is alot of factors that determine the rate of which the transfer happens. Most important is the reception. The USB2 is much faster and works much better than the 1.0/1.1 USB.

Most bluetooth dongles will work with up to 7 different items/functions at the same time. I have used mine to transfer stuff from pc to phone.

Should have clarified that some. Most companies are ok to order from. And by that I mean some are real slow, others are so fast, it makes your head swim.

If you buy from an individual and it does not feel right, I would be leary. I have never had a problem ordering from individuals from ebay/amazon, etc.. Just look at their RATING before you buy.

Interesting. I'll have to start playing with that bluetooth dongle to figure out how to get the computer to dial the connection. I've been just using a standard dial up connection via the motorolla usb modem. I might switch to using MPT with bluetooth, since I have no idea how to set the dial up connection settings to bluetooth.

Thanks again.

MPT is motorolla phone tools. There's an option called "internet connection". When I dial up, I'm using the phone as a modem, no need for an ISP. Follow the directions on the Wiki. it's number 20

BUT you might want to verify with Cincyball - I would be wrong.

The software will run on XP x64 or 64bit machine. It just will not run at 64bit speed.

I was informed in school, that if the software is not 64bit then it will run as 32bit.

You might verify with Cincyball, though.

Could you please elaborate on 'recommended option'.

My son was doing some stuff to his V3m throuhg MPT on my computer. It was working FANTASTIC.

Well, MPT came up wanting access to the internet, so he clicked on 'allow'. Well, MPT upgraded from ver 4.04 to version 4.21. Now none of the phones are working through MPT. I even did the new drivers for MPT, ver 4.21 and did the mptfix.exe, BUT nada, nothing. MPT will only recognize the phone(s) as V3c and NO multimedia.

When I go into the 'recommended options' and set them the V3m and then to V3cm and then to V3mm, I get no mulitmedia.

I even uninstalled the drivers and MPT and reinstalled from scratch, but now NADA.

I guess we will have to wait on Cincyball for EXPERTISE in this field.

I did the seem update on v3 and I got everything to work ok and have transferred pictures form my computer and changed to the vibe ring. However, after I used the phone as a modem to connect to the internet, the phone has not been recognized by phone tools since that time. I think something is up with the USB driver. Any ideas?

No problem on the confusion part. I got the 3.5 for my stereo headset, also. It plays in both ears but not in stereo.

I thought I was helping out too and got it thrown back in face.

Maybe we can get un-confused on the next one.

Ok, found out that you CANNOT have two (2) seperate stored voicemails. You can either use the VZW default OR create one (1) of your own.

This case closed, unless a certain person proves me WRONG.

Did you install the drivers for your phone? You can get the driver here.

http://www.bvrp.com/Customers/Motorola/DriverTool.zip

If it still does no work, there is a patch for the WMP10. You can get the pach here.

http://forums.wirelessadvisor.com/at...m-sync-fix.zip

You might want to verify with Cincyball, though. I could be WRONG.

Richard, I wasnt trying to PROVE you WRONG. I was just trying to make sure it was known that you cant use bluetooth for music. If I didnt respond to that post, and that user went out and spent money on those headphones and they didnt work, that wouldnt be very good. I dont proclaim to know everything about this phone...but I will chime in if I know something is out of place, or I know the answer to a particular question. I apologize if you were offended.

Alright, here's an update. I was able to use the phone as a modem to get my laptop online using DUN via bluetooth. The bummer is that it was painfully slow. Also, using bluetooth is a pretty good way to drain a battery (as opposed to charging it while connected via USB). So the short and skinny is that after spending time and engery figuring out how to do it, the only question left is "why did I want to do this?"

The reason why is if you are ever out on the road, or camping, or anything like that and u have ur cell and laptop, and NEED the net, u will have it. I can use the net on my phone, but its painful trying to navigate. I would rather use my DUN and connect at 1x thru my laptop than use my web browser on my cell and connect at EVDO speeds. Your liek me man, I have scoured pages, I have searched thru every .bar file with Bre Resource Editor, in hopes to find the location of this image...no luck. It is like the Windows startup, you cant avoid it Im afraid. Maybe when/if firmware is ever leaked, possibly someone could figure it out, but until then, i think we are SOL. Sucks cuz thats my last Verizon branding!

Oh, you're definitely right, I love using the phone as a modem, I just meant that bluetooth offers no advantage whatsoever compared to connecting via USB port.

"Recommended option" is when windows asks if you want to install the driver...you have the option to let windows find the setup file for the driver...or you can point to the correct path....well neither option has worked. The only other option i can think of would be to somehow manually install driver...but i don't know enough about computers...I'm using the verizon music essentials kit...and i've installed the driver numerous times but windows still sees it as an unknown device...except for when the phone is off...then it sees it as the modem...I've even re-formatted my hard drive to try and solve the problem...I'm confused on what to do next...my whole point in buying this phone was for the music!! and i can't get it to work!

There have been sooo many problems with that music essentials kit. From what I have gathered, that kit does not have the correect drivers for the phone. Have you tried installing the "driver tool" I have attached a file for it. What you need to do is save the program to the computer, open it, run the program. What this does is it removes the old "bad" drivers, and will install the correct one. Once you do that, turn off ur phone, then connect it to the USB port. Make sure it is a USB port that is already on the computer, (dont use a usb port that is part of a hub extension or anything like that). Once u plug in the phone (still off), it should recognize the v3c, and then try the "recommeded" install. See if that works. If so, you should be able to go to the next step. Please post back once u have tried this, and we will go from there, or try another solution.

Question Re: RAZR V3m

I don't know what else to try..i've done the driver tool and the fix program from motorola...for some reason my computer can't find the install files for the driver...no matter which way i do it...it finds the modem and installs it just fine while the phone is off....but when it comes to the v3c driver it just won't work!
