If you put them on the card as a ringtone, the phone will not play them. You would have to constantly swap them from the card to the phone and then turn off the phone then turn it on to make the phone recognize and put them in memory. If you just wanted the memory card as a place to store them, it would be ok. Just remember from the card, it will not play them. Now you can rename them from .wp3 or .wma to .mid. They will play, but some complain that the quality is no longer there.

I may be going out on a limb here, but hey I am not teathered to Verizon anymore so here goes. I want to see if I can get movies to play on my phone without the download crap from Big Brother Verizon. Any help would be nice. Not that I watch movies on my phone at all just want to see if it can be done. Any help would be nice. |

Hi folks, Is there a way to recover files after they've been deleted using MPT? Something weird happened when transferring some pictures and it seems I've only got the thumbnails on my PC now. Unfortunately I deleted the originals from the phone... Evan |

Did anyone figure out how if how to get stereo out of a normal set of headphones. I know I need an adapter for my adapter but for the life of me cant find one. I hate earbuds so using the verizon or motorola headsets is not an option.

I'm new here and have no idea what I'm doing. I'm trying to get my MPT to work. I followed the instructions to seem edit from post 399 and its only been partially successful. MPT reconizes my phone (V3m) but when it connects, the multimedia studio doesn't appear on the right side with the rest of the sync, phonebook...etc. I'm on a mission to get some ringtons I actually want...does anyone know what could possibly be going on? Thanks!

Try this for the MPT setup. At leaset read it over and then go from there. Installing MPT via cable. System, software and hardware: Windows Xp w/SP2 or Windows 2000 w/SP4 Available Internet access Motorola Phone Tools ver 4.0 or higher Motorola DriverTool.zip mini-usb to full usb cable 1.) Install the MPT 4.0 software, read/follow the instructions on the screen as it installs. In the process of installing the MPT software, it goes out on the internet and checks for updates. You will be prompted to download, then install the update(s). At this point that is ALL you are going to do and that is to keep updating until there are no more updates. If you update to MPT ver 4.21 you will also need to download the MPT driver for version 4.21. It is in this forum - search on 4.21. If you are prompted to 'enter/select a Phone Profile'. Do NOT do it, ignore it, let it set there, do not touch it. :-) All you do for this step is install MPT software, download and install the updates. That's it, nothing else. 2.) Reboot your system when you are prompted to. When the system finishes rebooting, click on the MPT icon to activate the software. 3.) NOW 'enter/select a new phone-profile'. Do not use 'Default', give your setup a name, example: 'Dad's V3m, cable' or whatever turns you on. Click on OK twice. 4.) the 'phone wizard' screen will display. Choose CABLE option and click on Next button. 5.) you will be prompted to 'turn on phone', 'connect phone to cable', then 'connect cable to USB port on PC'. Do it. 6.) 'Phone Setup' then starts installing needed drivers. It will then try to detect your phone. If it does not detect it, allow it to launch 'live update' to try to get your drivers and then redect your phone. Step 6 is IMPORTANT. It will 'try' to detect your phone TWICE. Allow it to go through it's process. 7.) when it cannot detect it for the second time, you will be prompted to select your phone and drivers. Choose CDMA from the list on the left and then choose V3cm from the list on the right. then click Next. It will go through it's detect process again, but should find it this time. If it did, you will get a 'Congratulation!' screen displayed. Do not click on anything as the next screen will display automatically - at least mine did. 8.) The 'Phone Setup' screen will display. this puts the MPT Phone icon on the desktop. Watch the 'phone screen' as it will show 'initializing phone, please standby ...' This may take a minute or two. Once it connects or finishes initializing; in the upper left corner of the MPT phone screen it will show a strength meter when it connects. The upper right hand corner, will show the strength of your battery. Using your mouse you can you the full function of the MPT phone keys to make calls, end calls, check your mail, etc... Also note that the options: phonebook, calendar, multimedia studio, synchronizing and txt messaging icons will be grayed out until you move your mouse over them.

i always get those plug sizes mixed up. Yes i want a 2.5mm to 3.5mm headphone jack. However after reading this forum i am under the impression that I will only get mono out unless I get the correct one.

quick question. The charger that came with my v3m has an output of 5v, 850 milliamps. I have an older motorolla charger that fits the phone but is 5 volts, 550 milliamps. Can I use this charger without damaging the phone or battery?

Yes. It will just take longer to charge it. I have the SAME exact chargers. One came with the phone, the other came with my H500 headset. I take the 5volt/550ma charger with me, cause it is smaller and easier for me to pack with my school stuff.

Sweet, thanks Richard. While I've got your attention, I have another question. When I'm charging the phone using a USB port, should I use USB1 or USB2. I know USB2 runs at a higher voltage and have heard that charging a battery too fast or with too strong a current can shorten its life.

1) http://www.radioshack.com/product/in...entPage=search Actually, just now am I realizing what an idiot I was, haha. This didnt work b/c it is a mono plug, 2) http://www.radioshack.com/product/in...entPage=search This one worked, but sorta makeshift. As u see, there are 2 sets of inputs (my fiancee and I both wanted to to listen) The way to make it work is only put the headphone jack in about 1/2 way. Each side is mono, resulting in stereo. Biut if u only have 1 ste of headphones plugged in on one side, you have to put that jack in about 1/2 way and wiggle it til it comes in stereo, and the nleave it where it is. It was only a few $ instead of buying the actual headset from verizon.

The drivers that are installed when you first plug in your phone, actually regulate the how much your phone gets charged. I only have USB2 on ALL 6 of my computers and 2 laptops. Never have a problem.

I've been using my razr as a modem to get wireless on my laptop. Does plugging it into a usb2 port make the connection faster, or is something other than the transfer rate of the usb connection the limiting factor?

| is that just using the standard $5 wireless web option that uses your mins? If so what keeps verizon from knowing and charging you more?
