Sorry, I forgot to explain my BitPim problems. I ran through the installation instructions you provided to recreate the error. The phone setup process in BitPim works fine. I run through the manual instructions, set the port to Motorola USA Modem and the phone to v3cm, but when I finish the process and click Detect Phone the No Phone Found message appears all over again. Also, I seem to have some moderate ability to read the phone, because if I click View and then View Filesystem I can actually sort through the files. Also if I click Phone Info my ESN and phone number pop up. So despite the fact that it still seems not to recognize the phone I tried to import information from the phone as explained in the guide, but that's stopped short as well: It attempts the process and then spits out "MotoV3cm on COM4: The phone is not responding while manipulating filesystem." Any thoughts?

Yes -- I have been trying to connect to MPT using Bluetooth. I haven't even tried to venture into OBEX territory with Outlook or any of that yet.

Also, if anyone has gotten WMP11 to sync with their phone, please let me know. I can get it to see the phone for a brief second, but the phone always times out before WMP11 can sync succesfully.

Yes, it is posted on this forum by WiLLy2900, I believe.

Do not know of custom animation sites.

Aaaarggghhhh! It is getting impossible to find anything on this thread.

I am looking for the instructions. I thought that I had ul'd to this thread the Bluetooth installation procedures.

If I cannot find them I will ul them for sure.

Sounds like you are going to have to SEEM the OBEX and turn it on.

Regarding the starting (opening) and ending (closing) animations, I found them here within the file system.

/motorola/shared/picture/

They are called:

customer_opening.gif
customer_closing.gif

They are animated gifs, so I would think if you made your custom ones the same size, named them the same and uploaded them, it would work as you wish... though I haven't tried this yet. Hope it's helpful.

Hey all. I am new to this phone modifying thing and have a question that keeps going unanswered. I have done the seem edits to be able to transfer between the flash card and the v3m. I have taken pictures from my laptop, sized them to wallpaper size and have put them on the transflash card. When I put the card back in the phone where can I access the pictures on the card from? Will this also work for Mp3's that I have clipped for ringtones?

Any help will be appreciated.

If you get it to work that way, let us know how. If I am not mistaken, the ONLY way others got it to work was via BitPim and/or MPT. You maybe able to 'steup' the transFlash while in the phone and then, keeping the same 'tree structure' from the phone, copy/move to the transFlash that way.

I had the same thing happen. Seems that my local Verizon Store had the V3M on display, that's what the website said I could upgrade to for free, and two different sales people said I could have.

Somehow...when I got home I couldn't find the slot either. Looking further, I found that they had actually given me a V3C! Said it on the manual cover, and on the box.Back to the store I went the next morning, and now have a V3M. I have my doubts that it was a total mistake...I elected not to buy a TransFlash card right then, so they might have figured I didn't want the funtionality and gave me old stock to get rid of it. Maybe.

Take off the battery cover, and on the lower inside edge you'll see a little white dot sticker. To the right of that is a little cutout -maybe- 1/2" wide. That's the slot.

My V3C did not have that at all. It's fairly obvious.

Now that I've type all this, I'll read for another couple of pages and see that someone else replied, or you found the answer.

Default Razr ( CDMA versions v3c & v3m ) post your questions here:

In order to keep the Motorola forum from getting cluttered with new threads regarding questions about the Razr we will now have two sticky threads of the two versions of the Razr, one will be for the GSM versions which inlcudes the v3 & v3i, and the other will be for the CDMA versions v3c & v3m. We will add to these threads as new versions are released.

Please keep discussions in the proper threads or post will be deleted.

first of thanks to everyones hard work. i have done alot to my phone thanks to you guys.

I know I've read this in this thread before but I've tried looking for it again without any luck so Ill just ask.

every hack is working perfectly so far. all the seem edits i've done work. file transfers work, mpt and bitpim work. I've been able to upload mp3's for ringtones, but for the life of me I cannot upload music to play via the music player. I've tried uploading mp3's and wma's using bitpim and MPT. nothing i upload show up in the Manage music or My music areas of the get tunes and tones menu. i've tried putting the files in the "my music" folder i see using the filesystem browser in bitpim. I've also tried uploaiding to the audio folder using MPT.

any help would be appreciated.

Whew. After a whirlwind four hours of screwing around with MSU and p2kedit after work I finally got file transfer enabled and everything else has fallen into place. The whole driver setup with MSU is a slightly confusing process as, in my case, I had to guess at which drivers to install and cross my fingers. Thanks for pointing me toward the part I'd stumbled over, guys. I just needed to look more closely at one portion of the process.

x Offset 74 Bit 7 - Digital Indicator (1X or D) - Check for 1X, Uncheck for D

Verizon V3C/V3M Specific... These use Seem 2742, Record 1, Bytes (h) 0000

x Offset 7B Bit 3 - Vibrate THEN Ring part1 - Uncheck to enable
x Offset 7B Bit 4 - Vibrate THEN Ring part2 - Check to enable

x Offset 7B Bit 7 - Moto UI Style Ring Control Part 2 - Check to enable
With Bit 2 & 7 set this way, you will have volume 1-7 like the normal Moto UI instead of Low thru High
x Offset 94 Bit 7 - VZW V3C .04 outside LCD - Check to be ORANGE, Uncheck for Graphic
Maybe this is obvious, but in p2kseem I get up to an offset of 79 but then thats it.. how do you get to Offset 94 Bit 7 - VZW V3C .04 outside LCD - Check to be ORANGE, Uncheck for Graphic? I am loading seem 2742 if that is correct.

Thanks in advance

Not sure if anyone else has posted this but it when i called verizon for tech support on playing transfered music they say that you need to have copy protect music turned off in WMP10 to be able to play the music. Hope that helps someone.

Just to recap:

You first ran MSU and successfully connected your V3m through MSU.
IE the ESN Number shows the ESN Number from your phone.
Then you minimized MSU, do NOT exit from MSU, it must be running in the background and then started p2kseem.

then you set the following:
Bytes (h) was set to 0000
Seem was set to 2742
Record was set to 0001

and then you clicked on the 'load from phone' button. This 'load' may take a minute or two and in the lower left cornoer of P2K, it wil change and then change back to 'connected', once it connects.

If you did NOT get as much info as the pic, then make sure that MSU is recognizing the correct phone type. IE V3m, or V3i, or V3, etc...

Let me start by thanking all the people here for their great advice. You guys rock!

To the problem at hand, I'm facing the same issue with the seem editing tool that the earlier poster alluded to - I cannot seem (no pun intended) to make any changes on offsets after 7a. I can *see* 7b (but nothing after that), and if I make the necessary changes to enable vib+ring (uncheck bit 3 and check bit 4), save it to phone (it reports success). Then I restart the phone and re-connect with pk2seem and I still see the bit positions as they were before (almost as if 7b is readonly)! When I connect the phone, the MSU status area shows the correct IMEI but the Phone and Carrier are both shown as N/A. Is there a way to force MSU to detect the device as V3m or V3cm?

My firmware version is the same as everyone else: NEWC_01.05.0A. I followed the instructions to get the drivers and pk2seem tool from the excellent summary at www.motov3m.com (incidentally the other seem edits before 7b worked flawlessly - I can sync everything via MPT)

Thanks in advance!

As far as p2kseem goes, I'm pretty sure you guys just need to set the Bytes (h) field to 0000 in order to see everything.

I had teh same issue at first with BitPim only showing up to the mid 7's. By default the BitPim I d/l has "7a" in the bytes. No where in any of the instructions could I find to do anything different, but I did change it to "0000" and the missing offsets came up!

Maybe someone could change that info, and add it to the Wiki !!

Yes, I will agree that the wiki has not been updated lately, but

Come on folks! I did a search for BitPim in this thread alone and found 104 hits of which alot of the posts said to set SEEM=2742, Bytes=0000 and Record=0001, THEN press 'load from phone' button.

There is also about about 5 copies/screen prints of the COMPLETE instructions in this forum alone, that says the same thing.

See post #584 for a dl copy, not that it will do you any good now, since you have it up and running

My point is please read and take some notes, try it out and then if you have problems let us know in DETAIL what the problem is, then we can help.

I'm off my soap-box now.

Sorry 'bout that.
