and where the heck is the SD card slot?

I took the battery out and did not see any slot available, and do not see anything in the manual.

In the VCAST user guide book (the 1/2 think black book) on page 28, shows where the SD slot is.

OR

Take the battery cover off. Turn the phone so that the mini-usb is pointing to the left. Just to the right and above the battery is a cutout about 1/2" wide. That is where the tansFlash SD card goes.

Speaking for myself, you are better off getting the V3m. especially if you want to listen to music and/or watch movies on your phone.

Basically the only difference between the V3c and V3m is that you can put up to 1+gig of movies/music/ringtones/wallpaper and whatever on the V3m.

I am having exactly this problem also, but my pics don't work. Anyone figure this out yet? I have been reading and reading, didn't see it in previous posts.

The reason I even went to Bitpim was because i got stuck in MPT. When I changed the phone to V3cm (from V3m) to unlock the Multimedia Studio, I can SEE all these cool things to move on and off my phone, but i can't actually use any of them. When I go to transfer to the phone, I get "Unable to transfer to communicate with phone" messages, though the address book and all clearly works.

Is something still misteriously locked that i don't know about?

Take it back and tell them you wanted the V3m. They prolly have the left over V3c's sitting next to the V3m's. We all know how smart most of the ppl are in the retail stores

ATTENTION

Before you post your questions:

- use the search tab for this thread.
I myself and I know others are getting tired of answering the SAME questions again and again(sometimes even on the same page ) b/c ppl are too lazy to search and read.

AND look here before you post....................

I agree and to help this sticky out, someone? really needs to take this sticky and break in down into 4/5/6 different sticky's and then a couple of people need to moderate the postings to make sure that people post in the right section.

Just a thought.

Here's a few things I've learned about transferring movies to my v3m:

#1 Using 3gp Converter, select "3gpp+aac general setting". Then from the drop down list select "QCIF Normal Quality 15fps Stereo". This seems to be the best setting for playback and space on your TF card. You can use the option listed earlier in this thread but there is no stereo available for it. Without stereo, the movie audio is mono(obviously) but worse than that, it only plays through one ear piece on stereo headphones! You also have the option of "QCIF High Quality 15fps Stereo" but I tried that and could tell no difference in the quality of playback and it does make the file about 10-20% larger.

#2 After you start a movie, press the up arrow on your nav pad and it will change to a side view on your screen and make it a bit larger. Press the up arrow again to go back to normal.

#3 you can fit at least 3 full movies on a gig TF card.

#4 I hope those 3gp converter coders make the program able to convert DVD to 3gp. It's a rather long and arduous task to go from DVD to AVI to 3gp. The conversion from avi to 3gp is fairly fast and seems to produce decent quality.

If I come up with more, I'll post it here.

I converted a few files, 1 AVI and 1 WMV and they play, but after about 1 minute of playing the phone either reboots, or the file stops playing and it kicks me back to the main menu screen. Has anyone else experienced this?? This is a V3m with a 256mb transflash card.

Thanks in advance for any information.

I posted some more of the already known seems which I've tested to the new site http://www.motov3m.com/tiki-index.php .

I've got mpt running fully and now I'm gonna try to go through all of motox's seems etc.

It's still a pain in the butt to search for what your looking for in this thread. Let's try to get the site up to date so that we're all working with each other. I still want the custom outside lcd graphic and haven't figured out where it is in this thread I've got the same graphic on the outside as the inside but wanted a custom graphic just for the outside if this is possible. Hopefully it will be on motox.

WiLLy2900 has a nice SEEM list with changing the lcd on pg 14 post 397

I also incorporated a 130 item SEEM list in an excel spreadsheet on pg 15 post 433.

Yea, but it is worth to get back at VZW for crippling the phone so you have to buy 'everything' from them.

I did have this problem when i tried to use the "3gp2+aac general" setting. Once I changed to "3gpp+aac general" setting, it hasn't happened any more. One thing that it does do is show the volume level every once in awhile.

So I did a little searching through the thread regarding inside and outside graphics. Sorry if I missed it, but I can't find anywhere where it says how to get a different graphic on the outside versus the inside. As well, what are the sizes for the inside graphic. Here are some of my thoughts.

What is the size of the INSIDE graphic? I've seen different graphics with different sizes on the MotoV3m.com site, but am not sure if there is a difinitive size. The OUTSIDE graphics, according to another post is as follows:

---> 96 X 80
---> Save the new graphic as verizon.gif and upload it to the phone,
---> replacing the older one.

This is supposed to change the OUTSIDE graphic. I would presume that the seem edit to have the OUTSIDE graphic the same as the INSIDE graphic still needs to be done - presumably. If it is possible to have a different picture on the OUTSIDE than the INSIDE, I haven't figured it out yet (Note: I have not tried the above possibility with the versizon.gif technique, yet.) So if verizon.gif is the name of the OUTISDE graphic, then what is the name of the INSIDE graphic?

Thanks.

Great to hear from you WiLLy2900. I thought maybe you dropped out or something.

Not too much has changed. Same questions, new people, it seems like. I have found others posting the same questions on other forums at this site and tried to direct them here, but ...

I hate to waste everyone's time with problems that may well have been answered previously, but I'm pretty sure that I've now read this entire thread and found no suitable fix for my problem. I can't get my phone to functionally sync with anything. I can get it recognized by bitpim and MPT, but can't manipulate it in any way. I seem to have success in the first few steps of the syncing process: I run DriverTools to clear out any mistakes I may previously have made, I restart my computer, I disconnect and turn off my phone, I run the driver set-up in the RAZR V3m Music Transfer Tutorial, I re-connect the phone (still turned off) after the driver installation is complete, the phone is recognized as a V3c, I run through the installation wizard selecting the option to point toward a specific directory, I point it toward the driver set-up's directory (where the USBMOT2000.inf file is located) and my phone is installed as a Motorola USB Modem. Now I turn the phone on. The computer seems confident that it is, in fact, a Motorola USB Modem. So far so good. Now, I can open bitpim and get the contents of my file system, but I'm not familiar with the program and haven't tested it much further. Bitpim may work, but I'm just not savvy enough to use it. I also have a fully updated copy of MPT which I can run through the basic configuration, as laid out by a number of previous posters, and get my phone recognized. I can view contacts, but haven't tried transfering them yet. The Multimedia Studio icon doesn't show up, but when I go to the communications tab in the setup menu, and change the modem to a Motorola CDMA/v3cm I get the Multimedia Studio. However, the studio seems incapable of accessing the actual file system, and file transfer is impossible. Now, the second problem: In a number of odd instances (specifically: when attempting to run the Sync function in the phone's Get Tunes menu, when opening p2kseem, and when attempting to run MSU) the bubble pops up again in my tray saying that Windows has detected a Motorola V3c. When this happens and I attempt to run through the driver installation as I did at the very beginning of this process the wizard no longer considers the USBMOT2000.inf file useful and I finish at the wizard screen informing me that Windows was unable to install the device. After this happens all previously accessible programs (MPT and bitpim) are unusable: they no longer detect the phone in any form. I'm sorry for littering the boards if I'm missing an easy step, but I think I've tried almost every combination of installation steps in every possible order. The above listed steps provide the best results, but they are as far as I've successfully gotten. If anyone could offer even a small piece of advice it'd be much appreciated. The complications of this process have me pulling out the tiny hairs left on my balding head.

To begin with, you missed some 'important' steps in the BitPim installation.

See post #584 for a downloadable instructions file with screenshots OR look at post #539 for quick insturctions.

If you have a problem, tell us what you used and which step you had problems in.

I have emailed one of the mod's to see if I could take this forum and split it into 5/6 different ones - kind of like rosenjon's wiki site - then be allowed to mod it and keep it clean.

Been out of town the last few days...seems like lots of questions about outer lcd image, and making movies for V3m

I created wiki pages for both these topics -- will try to post walkthrough when I get a chance

Also, I have been trying to create a tutorial for syncing via Bluetooth - but haven't been able to get it to work myself yet...if anyone knows a surefire way, please post it
rosenjon has left the building.
