I could do the same as you until I got the motorola phone tools. Apparently the driver in mpt allows you to access the file system. I can now access my filesystem in p2kcommander. With this I managed to back up my entire phones directory and I just uploaded a movie to it. I haven't tried the changes in bitpim yet and I still can't get the p2kseem to work.

bitpim has the program inside of it to change your pics into wallpaper. I put a pic of a iguana I saw in the Cayman islands as my wallpaper. The only problem I had is that I couldn't just add the wallpaper. I had to take a pic on the camera and then substitute my pic in it's place. It worked well though. I want to try to change the outside pic now. I also transferred a movie over with pkcommander today but I can't get it to my micro sd card.

I finally got my music tranfered on to the removable drive. But when I go to the library and try to play the songs, a screen pops up and says "removing from library" then "adding to library" and all of the newly transfered songs are gone. (only one song remains which was my first transfer)

(sorry if this has already been asked, i couldn't find it in the previous posts)
If your tranferring over mp3's it transfers and it looks as if it worked but then the phone gets rid of the file. I've only had any luck with the wma files.

This is the trick I have to have pst running in the background to access the filesystem. PST 7.1.1_GENERAL is what i'm using hope this works for you!

I am able to copy between my phone and transflash card by going into My Flix, choosing a file, going to options, and selecting "move".

I would not suggest using BitPim to try to copy files directly to your transflash card. I have an SD card slot adapter for my transflash, and just copied the file directly to the root of the transflash card by inserting the transflash+adapter into the SD Card reader, and then it was available to play from the Flix viewer. These readers can be bought pretty cheap.

It may be possible that copying directly to transflash through the phone is not allowed -- I have not tried this using MPT or BitPim. If it isn't allowed, you will have a problem, because clearly the phone does not have enough memory to transfer a movie to it and then copy using the phone menu. If you can't copy directly to transflash while it is in the phone, you will need to purchase an SD adapter and SD reader for your computer...

BitPim, like MPT, is a stand-alone program. I will figure it out. I may have to SEEM it.

Does anyone know how to turn OFF that annoying darn 'beep', 'beep' every minute or two when the battery starts going low or did I miss it somewhere??

I turned off the BatterySave setting, but I still got the 'beeps'.

I turned off the reminders, hoping that it was a reminder function, but that did not work.

I could not find a SEEM for it.

Any suggestions?

My professor at school gets very, very, very annoyed when it 'beeps' every few minutes in a 3hr class. When it starts to 'beep', I have to turn the phone completely off in class.

Or my spouse pushs me out of bed and throws my phone at me , because the darn thing starts 'beeping' at 3 am in the morning. This is the 2nd time to start this early in the morning.

MPT will allow direct transfer to the flash card via the file transfer in the multimedia section, but, this is pretty slow. I transfered around 200 meg worth of songs onto my card via MPT and it took around 50 minutes. An adapter would be the way to go I think.

Vibrate mode, Yes.

Have not tried silent because if I do I could miss a call. Will give it a try for grins, though and get back with you.

What the heck happened?

One minute I posting a reply and the next I was no longer in the forum and I was looking at a display that said something about being 'banned from the forum'.

What the heck?

After 4/5 'failed' attempts to get back into forum, I thought that maybe I was 'banned!' But then I received a message about the database being down or something like that.

Whew!!!

Oh, back to the post.

rosenjon:

Once the 'beeping' for 'low battery' starts, it takes the durn thing over 12 hours before the battery finally gives out. So for about 12 hours I have to put up with that durn 'beeping'.

Also, when the battery starts flashing, no 'dots' in the battery icon, I found that if I turn the phone off, let it set a minute or two and then turn it back on, the battery power will return to 1 sometimes 2 dots in the battery icon.

Thought about playing a movie or something to help 'kill' the battery.

Maybe someone will help come up with something!

Wow,

Looks like the forum is having problems. Acting very slow today.

I have a question about movie playback on my v3m. Should the video be jerky and not sync up well with the audio?

I took an episode of 24 in avi format and used the converter mentioned in this thread. The conversion worked well and and plays well with decent quality and good sync on quick time. But on the phone, the video is very jerky and the audio is a second or two ahead of the video.

I will try this on a full length movie and see if there's any difference.

I have the grey one. Maybe it's a lemon...lol

aaquick: I have found it to be dependent on the video. It actually seems like the better quality the video I convert, the better that it plays on the phone. I have found that some smaller videos actually play very jerky on the phone, where as the bigger files tend to convert to a more watchable format.

The seem edit for the outside LCD to be the same as the inside pic is:

Seem 2742, Record 1, Bytes (h) 0

Offset 94 Bit 7 - VZW V3C .04 outside LCD - Check to be ORANGE, Uncheck for Graphic

This is really weird.

We have 4-V3m's in our household.

I spent a little time getting my phone to work on my computer.

Now, I want to perform some of the same operations on the other 3 phones like I did on mine.

BitPim, MPT, MSU and P2K cannot find the other 3 phones when I try to work on them. I have re-installed ALL software a couple of times, un-installed a couple of time, put in all the fixes.

As soon as I attach my phone, everything works, when I attach anyone of the other 3, I get a phone not found or phone not attached error message.

They all have the same pre-installed SW on them.

I'm sure this won't work, but what if you used a different profile in MPT for each phone? Just a thought.

Did that. mine is: "Dad's V3m cable" and "Dad's V3m BT" (for BlueTooth). My intent was to "Dad's" to my sons name, then my daughters name and then my spouse's name.

when I could not get any phone to work, I deleted the profile's and gave 'completely' different profiles names for each one. But still no go.

BitPim was a little harder as I created folders for each persons name. The idea was when BitPim dl's all the information I was going to move it the correct named folder.

All I have to do is make sure that the folder/phone BitPim is accessing has the correct persons name/phone info copied into BitPim's main folder.

okay, I have read the forums till my eyes are red.

couple of questions:

I dont have SYNC on my verizon v3m, is becuase I have to purchase software like the MPT?

also, nothing I do gets windows media player 10 to see it. I downloaded and ran drivertool but it did not help.

I was able to email a ringtone, but geez that sounded pretty bad.

and where the heck is the SD card slot?

I took the battery out and did not see any slot available, and do not see anything in the manual.
