Has anyone tried to get rid of the "Verizon Wireless" at the second line? Its the seem edit on line 117 of the spread sheet of all the seem edits. On a side not, what is your favorite edit so far. I did a couple to my phone. My fav is having the inside screen show on the outside. |

musicarr: That is a good question -- it is my belief that the phone will not be able to see mp3 files, due to the way the phone software has been setup. I think if you rename the .mp3 extension to .midi, you can then play mp3's on the phone. It is possible there is a seem out there somewhere which will reenable mp3 playback for files with the mp3 extension, however I have not seen it yet. Personally, I like the way the WMP10 syncs songs, however since it is lacking a playlist sync it isn't really that useful compared to direct copying I suppose. However, I know if I sync with WMP10 that I don't have to worry about the files not being recognized by the phone - they will always be in the right format for playback, and I don't think there is any audio degradation in the conversion as far as I can tell. |

Yeah, that makes sense. I main reason I bring this up is that I run a Mac and a PC. Most of my work is done on the Mac, so if I can get things working there, that would be great, but for now I'm thrilled with gettin' it done on the PC. One other question regarding the apps being used. If I have MSU and MPT to do most of the file transfers along with BitPim, and do the seem editing with P2Kseem, then... what is P2Kcommander used for? What is the benefit of keeping around? Is P2KSeem a part of P2Kcommander? I'm trying to nail down what are the neccessary apps and what they are used for. Thanks. Last edited by musicarr; 07-10-2006 at 7:02 PM. |

Can someone do me a favor? I am playing with Outlook sync with MTP, and whenever I do a mass sync from Outlook to the phone, it moves the time ahead for each event. So if the event is at 2PM, it will show up as 6PM on the phone. I have not yet nailed down the exact shift of each event (it only happens when mass syncing events), but clearly this is a really annoying bug. Can anyone else see if they can reproduce? My time/date settings are correct on each device, so there shouldnt be any kind of "region realignment" going on.

Ok I found out the problem. If your phone is set to Daylight savings time in the calendar on the phone, this will screw up your whole calendar sync process. I turned off Daylight Saving Time, and the synch works now. At first I thought that the phone should be smart enough to know if it is DST or not, however apparently Congress enacted a new law recently which has changed Daylight Saving Time's dates in 2007 (see http://webexhibits.org/daylightsaving/b.html) so apparently the manual setting is necessary. I must admit, I don't understand why this moves things ahead 7 hours, as opposed to one hour..... |

The phone moves things ahead 7 hours by the way, not Congress's DST ACT

Another happy Verizon V3m user! Thanks x10^6 to you guys for the great data on seems and tools. My buds at work have Cingular V3C's, and they can map a bunch of keys to functions (*LOTS* of shortcut possibilities), but my V3m only allows the "down" key to be mapped. Is this a "seemable" thing, or is this just a limitation of the V3m? Again, thanks for all the great input! |

TSOnthedrum: I have loaded a full length movie onto the v3m. Here are the steps to follow: 1) Use this to program to convert videos to the right format: http://www.topdrawerdownloads.com/download/104143 Once you download, run setup.exe, and configure it for 3GPP + AMR 4) Then run the program, and drag and drop the movie file into the program. Choose an output directory, and the outputted file can be played on the phone. For fairly small movies, you can go into MPT and upload the video. For full length movies, you will need to upload directly to the root directory of a transflash card because MPT will not load files over a certain size. The phone should see the video if its in the root of the transflash card. If it doesn't, go into Menu...Get Pix and Flix...My Flix... Then select a video, go to "options", and select "Move", and then choose "yes" for move flix to card. This will make the phone look to the transflash card for videos. |

Getting some email about BitPim write up. I have not finished the BitPim write up with screen shots yet. Sorry about that. So here is a quick over view. 1.) Close ALL programs. 2.) Reboot computer - make sure phone and cable are not connected first. After reboot. 3.) Connect your phone to mini-usb 4.) Connect cable to computer 5.) Start BitPim 6.) Close All windows that popup, if any popup 7.) From the BitPim Welcome screen 8.) Click on Edit from menu 9.) Click on Setting - 'BitPim Setting' window will display 10.) Click on Browse button across from Com Port 11.) Another window called 'Choose a comm port' will display Look for "Motorola USB Modem" in the Available Ports Section 12.) If it is NOT listed anywhere, you need to close ALL open windows including BitPim, remove your phone and cable from computer and install DriverTool.zip, then start this 'complete' process over. 13.) Click one time on "Motorola USB Modem" 14.) Click on OK button 15.) the Com Port field will automatically fill-in for you Note: Do NOT fill this in by hand even if you know the comm port as BitPim does NOT like it if you do - I do not know why - especially IF #12 above is 'true'. 16.) Make the following are SET on the "BitPim Settings" screen Read Only = uncheck Disk Storage = leave as is – Take special note of this location. It is where BitPim is going to store the information it gets off of the phone. Config File = as is Phone Type = V3cm (next to the phone listed, click on the arrow pointing down; scroll down the list to find V3cm and select it.) Com Port = filled in from steps 10 thru 15 above Check for update = never Start = uncheck Task Bar Icon = uncheck Autodetect at Startup = uncheck BitFling = as is 17.) Click on the Ok button - you are taken back to BitPim Welcome screen 18.) Click on Edit 19.) Click on Detect Phone You should be up and ready to rock and roll now. GET 'ER DONE !! |

So, with that out of the way. What does "got a mod to sticky" mean in the above context? | |
