Hi everyone - I am very happy with my T720, I will be a lot happier when I can start using some of the features some more. Synching with my computer would be a good start here are some questions: 1) when synching -any way to store addresses etc. as well as phone numbers and email (if not, could a java app do it? even if it does not exist now, there's no reason someone could not write one?) 2) does the USB data cable allow me to upload java apps, photos etc to the phone? 3) can I download the java SDK and write my own apps for the phone? in your opinion is the 70$ worth it for the software and cable? (I see non-motorola sites selling it for 50$ or so...) any information would be greatly appreciated!! Rob |

1) when synching -any way to store addresses etc. as well as phone numbers and email (if not, could a java app do it? even if it does not exist now, there's no reason someone could not write one?) It doesn't store addresses. I suppose Moto figured that you can call or e-mail, therefore you store that info. I would be kinda nice to use it in place of my organizer but they'd need much more memory. 2) does the USB data cable allow me to upload java apps, photos etc to the phone? I never tried that. I downloaded them through the phone because I have the AT&T GSM version. I've been told that Verizon locked you into "Get It Now" so you can only DL somthing that way. 3) can I download the java SDK and write my own apps for the phone? Sorry robeen. The Verizon phone has Java disabled, I've been told. Only the GSM version (AT&T & T-Mobile) has working Java. I don't know if "crack" that's been floating around resolves any of that. (Sorry I didn't give you any answers that help you. ) |

Hmm, so Verizon has basically castrated the phone. The "pay for it now" sorry I mean "Get It Now" programs run java (as far as I know) so when you say java is disabled, you mean its disabled for everything other then the GIN programs? oh well, maybe in time. I have not tried the mobile web...why can't I write a program, upload it to a website and download it to the phone using the mobile web? cheers - Rob | |
