I am new to all this. I get that the v60 is one of the best phones around, and I REALLY want a flip phone, so I'm looking for this one. When I look online for Cingular plans with this phone, sometimes they tell me I get the v60t and sometimes v60g or gm. But other companies (like ATT or Tmobile) offer the v60i, and I don't see why I can't get it with Cingular. (I live in NYC). Why the difference? Does the GM have analog roaming (if not, what's the point: get Tmobile instead of Cingular, right?) What does "i" mean (I get that "T" is TDMA and "C" is CDMA and "G" is GSM.) What, therefore, is the v60gi? I'd appreciate any help decoding all this technology. I would like a flip phone with hands free, analog capable, email capable (wireless web might be great, but don't necessarily need it) and respectable battery time (what's the point of unlimited weekends if your phone only lasts 2 hours????). I don't care about downloadable ringtones, color changes or other fancy features. I've tried the V66 and like it, but I don't think I'll stay with Tmobile b/c no analog roaming. And the battery time is short with teh v66. I'd really like to spend less than $100, too, but online that looks possible. Thanks!!!! |

There are currently rebates available thru Motorola for the V60. As for your question, the V60i has changeable faceplates, some new menu items, some different ringtones, and some games. It also has a more reliable antenna (V60ci models), but if you're getting a V60ti or V60gi, this won't matter. The V60 is a great phone with internet access, two-way SMS capabilities, great features, and compact size. It's solid as a rock, being made out of metal. The V60 comes highly recommended. If you can get a V60i, then go for it. Otherwise, it's still a wise choice, but an old phone. |

Thanks. My only remaining confusion is if the "gm" is the same as the "gi." Buy.com offers the "gm" for $50 end price (the cheapest out there). Cingular is selling me the "gi" for $100 end price. Are they the same: can I go to Cingular and try to get the price difference, or will the saleperson tell me they're not the same phone? Is the v60gm really just the v60g, i.e. without analog roaming capabilities? Thanks for your help! |
