Default T720 Virus?

Hi guys, I downloaded an app onto my T720 via GetItNow, I think it was ModTones, and now my phone keeps sending SMS text messages to all the email addresses in my phonebook. The text of the messages are things such as, "L0L J00 R HAXX0R3D!". Has anyone else had this problem? Also, when I try to access my GetItNow application to delete the apps, I get an error stating "ERROR: N00B USER". It's very weird.

You've definately been infect with virus. I would turn the phone off and take it to service center to get it fixed. They can either erase the memory or replace your phone.

joking aside, it is scary how you got hacked using "Get It Now" service. I wouldn't be surprised if it was through the free waptunnel but "Get IT Now"? Report it to Verizon CSR.

Software is Software is Software. If you have to write software for something, somone can write a virus for it. We are entering a scary new time when virusses can be written for cell phones. Let us not take this for granted.

Thats insane man. Let us know what Verizon says.. like if they verify that it is a virus and how you might have gotten it. I'm sure they'll say something like "A virus through Get It Now? Nonsense! You must have done something wrong. Here's your new phone now don't tell anyone about this..."

Default T720 Virus?

I wondered about this on my T720 too! If you go into Test Mode (via MENU+073887*+SECURITYCODE) and then go into the page that has 'Normal PD' on top, I saw this once:

dog.c and babe.c

These were in two different selections under the 'Normal PD' selection... I am thinking that these are some C progs somehow downloaded into the memory. I also noticed that the list of numbers and hex code after the 'Normal PD' is getting longer and longer. Does anyone know what this menu is and if these C files might also be some sort of hack/virus? Scary times...

They could be a hack or virus, however since there is not a c compiler on the phone, only a java interprter, there is no association for them to run let alone compile

hook...line...and sinker.

For all of you showing such vast concern, I have a bridge in the Brooklyn area and some nice wetlands in Florida I'm looking to unload. Serious inquiries only, please.
