does nayone know how to change the banner on the inside of the flip right above the clock that says ATT wireless?

Verizon's change by going to Menu>Settings>Personalize>Banner -- hopefully this is the same for ATT.

even when you change it sometimes it comes up and says Verizon Wireless tho.. then it will switch back to the banner you set randomly. cant figure out a login to it.

All the ATT version gives me is either status or clock. Doesn't seem to be anywhere to add custom verbage.

yea, its pretty annoying that "Verizon" banner keeps coming up too. As if I dont know what type of service I have, and as if the phone doesnt have verizon all over it [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-disgusted.gif[/img]

Curious.... Did either of you recently do a *228 roaming update on your phone? I never had a problem with my banner till yesterday when I upgraded my roaming service. Coincidence?????? or just another glitch with the T720?

I think it is related to the *228. Casue when I first got my phone I changed it and seem to stay that way now its random.

the purpose of your phones saying Verizon Wireless isn't for advertisement or to remind you which company you have, but it is part of the roaming indicator system. if your banner says "Verizon Wireless" you are in your home area. if it says "extended network" then you still do not pay roaming charges. if it goes to "roaming", then you will be charged roaming. so it is just to let you know if you are roaming or not. and it does switch back and forth to your customized banner. hope this answers some of your questions!

when i first got my 17 version, it did not go back and forth like the new versions do. and the light on the phone is one way to indicate home or roaming. none of my other phones said the network i was on, on the banner. it just said D (digital home) or R (roaming). i don't see why it says Verizon Wireless there and on the face of the phone when you have it open. they sure do seem to have more control over the things i thought this phone would give me more freedom of.

The GSM version of the T720 does not seem to have the option to change the banner text. It only gives us (T-Mobile/AT&T) the option to change the banner graphic (which, as far as I can tell, has no effect anyway).

Anyone know a hack to enable the change of the Banner text on the GSM T720i phones?

att and t-mobile do not let you change the banner on any of their phones
you can use the "profile name thingy" on some nokia phones
and i have seen one person who hacked his v60t and changed the banner, but i don't know how to do that

as for the "Verizon Wireless" banner, you can get rid of this by manually programming your phone (if motorola 74663 # MENU MENU or FCN FCN depending on model)...the only problem with this is that Verizon has a new PRL out and programming manually does not give u the updated PRL (basically it fu*ks up your roaming capability)--verizon's system id for both CDMA and AMPS is 22 in NYC.

i think i've posted this before....
