Oh and cliff notes:

It looks like us verizon people are not going to get the cool stuff that the ATT t720 users get. You have to pay insane amounts of money to get the BREW compiler and stuff. Mean while, this guy has cool backgrounds on his ATT 720. This stinks. damn you verizon.

God, I hope someone cracks this phone and allows J2ME to be loaded onto Verizon T720s.

The most insitefull thing I have heard about verizon:

"BREW destroys the value of an otherwise advanced phone (e.g., Motorola T720)"

Aint that the trouth!!!!!

ALL verizon execs should read this article. people want a choice and wont be locked down to a crappy closed system! your greed to make a few extra $$ ON TOP OF air time will ultimatley undo you.

Absolutely, alphafox. I know that Verizon is making back part of its money that was spent subsidizing the phone through the Get It Now, but honestly, the percentage of people who are going to do Java development or scour the internet looking for Java cellphone apps versus the overall population of phone users is undoubtedly small. If they allowed Get It Now for users not savvy enough to seek out their own content, but also allowed technical users to load their own software, I think you'd see a lot less whining with minimal bottom line impact since most people would simply use Get It Now.

Exactly. Most people would rather just hit a few buttons and download what the want instead of spending an afternoon hooking things up and messing around. Of course, most of us here would rather do that. So let us have our java and verizon can have their GIN...seems fair to me
