this is absolutely ridiculous. apart from the platinum and gold, the stainless steel phone at $4500 is stupid. are you sure its not canadian or australian dollars?

i was in london last week, Harrods had a testing for them in the jewerly/fine watches section. they dont really do more than our phones, but their customer service is pretty awesome, concorde flights and such. a little too rich for my blood

When you visit the Vertu site, you get this background chord and when you roll over the four different sections, a tone plays. I find it very appropriate that the base tone of the chord is found on the "Acquire a Vertu" rollover.

The platinum model costs £14950 0s 0d (GBP), that is, $23761.53 (USD).

Wouldn't it be funny if you purchased one of these handsets with a service like t-mobile or sprint pcs and experienced nothing but dropped calls all the time?

The Vertu is impractical. Phones are getting lighter and smaller. Even though I like how it looks, can you imagine how much the platinum and gold phones will weigh? It's crazy. It's a nice idea, but whoever buys it is an idiot. It will be mostly a decorative piece because a man that buys it can't possibly put that heavy thing in his pocket because the pocket will rip. And the woman can't put it in her purse because she wouldn't be able to lift it. I guess it could be used as a car phone....but carphones are becoming integrated with the stereo now and there won't be any need for a phone like that.

I think it's going to go bankrupt soon....although it's been out for a year or two.
