I just traded in my Timeport 8160 for the t720 and also got a free 120e for my mom. The problem is that I cannot get the voicemail passwords to work properly. I go to SETTINGS > VOICEMAIL > VOICEMAIL SETUP and stored them as the following *86w#XXXX ; it is my understanding that this will cause the phone to first dial *86 then wait for another key to be pressed, at which time it will send the rest of the sequence. Well, the phones dial the *86 but then the screen to "Send Tones" never shows up and if you hit any other key after you connect to the voice mail system, it just dials what ever # you press forcing you to manually key in the password. I am able to successfully store PINs/passwords with a wait character in my standard phone book entries and the "Send Tones" screen appears when connected. Does anyone have any insight as to what is happening? Is this a firmware glitch? Thanks in advance, GM |

I programmed my voicemail code successfully using the 'insert pause' - *86,,XXXX,1 I added a voice shortcut to voicemail and everything works great. Now, I do not even have to touch a button to start listening to my voicemail. |

I also got these two phones yesterday; when programming the VM pin, you need to press the 'menu' button and 'insert pause' for it to work. I've had no problem with it.

How do you like the 120e so far? Have you tried it?

I've had the 120c for the past 10 months; and I'd come to absolutely hate it. The 120e; even though it looks very similar, is MUCH improved. Granted, it has only been 1 day, and this phone went to my sister-in-law, I played with it for a while yesterday. Called my wife and she said I sounded MUCH better than on the 120c. Bright blue backlight now; solid antennae (my 120c broke twice), some games were added, and I didn't see what else was different...but the call clarity was much better, which should be the most important thing, no?

TOTAL -1 , URGENT -0 Call: *86 XX:XXpm mm/dd/yy Then when I press "Call" it dials the voicemail system, but the "Send Tones" never appears. I believe what is happening is that Verizon's VM system pushes down the call back number, that is why the screen says "Call: *86" and this then overrides any VM # and key sequence you have stored in the Voicemail Setup screen. To test this theory, I completely erased all the numbers in the Voicemail Setup screen. But when I press "Call" in the voicemail screen it still dials *86. I called Motorola tech support which was a waste of time. They walked me through the basic steps that I had already tried, and were stumped when it didn't work. When I told them about my theory on why it wasn't working, they agreed it was a possibility but that I would have to work it out with Verizon. | |

The same thing has happened with me since my past v120c. It simply seems impossible to store your VM password for the default setting (not the Voicemail Setup setting). This is somehow in Verizon's control over the air and not in our own control which STINKS!! I have my VM password stored in the 1 keypress shortcut, but it is still a pain and I wish Verizon would not limit this.[

this DOES NOT WORK on the T720 under Voicemail Setup. I have entered that using my PW and it STILL defaults to only *86 without the PW when someone calls my cell and leaves a message. I should mention that I have had 1.2.22.19C with this problem and CURRENTLY have 1.2.22.19D with the same problem.
