Ok, you guys are absolutely going to love me. I found Truesync 3.1 for free, and it has the 720 Driver in it. Ive synced my t720, and it worked great. No catches, absloutely official drivers. Thats right, absolutely free. Not only that, but I figured out how to download UNLIMITED (limited only to t720 space)free tones, and Pictures to your phone, from your own web page. This tutorial is only for the computer savy people out there. Now, for the truesync problem that we all have, or at least I do. I have the V60 software installed already, but I couldnt find a driver anywhere. This is how you get your shiney new Truesync 3.1. 1. Download and install TrueSync Plus, L-Edition (for the REX handheld) from Motorola's Australian Website ZIP File Here L-Edition became free after a lawsuit a few years ago, but the link is not publicized. A few days ago after I downloaded it, Motorola removed the link from their web page, but amazingly enough, the program is still there. 2. Download and install the TrueSync Plus 3.1 upgrade from HERE. You'll have to register in order to download the file, but its SIMPLE. Make sure that Motorola Accessors and Microsoft Outlook are selected during the installation. 3. If you already have Truesync installed, just install the L Edition Plus, then the 3.1 Upgrade, and it will Upgrade the L Edition version to 3.1. After, run your original Truesync upgrade program, and it will be the 3.1 version, thus allowing you to download the Timeport 720 Driver, and the 3.1 Program itself. If some of you have the cable but not the Truesync software, you can download it from this FTP server, even though it is only 20k per second. It is not a dead link, it only lets 12 people in at once, so keep trying. The FTP is HERE. OK, Now fellas, all that HAVE THE T720, have their Truesync. BE HAPPY, LIKE I AM! CHRISTMAS IS HERE!!!!!!! NOW, for the Genious part of free ringtones. Ok, We know 4 facts. The polyphonic ringtones are in MIDI file form, which has a extention of *.mid The screensavers are in GIF form, which has a extention of *.gif The Wall papers are in GIF form, which has a extention of *.gif THe size of the screen is W=120 pixels, H =160 pixles. I make my own screensavers in Flash MX, and export as a gif to my computer. I make my own backgrounds in Photoshop, and export as a gif to my computer. I get my own free tones by searching Google for MIDI files. ALL FILES MUST BE UNDER 40K!!!!!! Ok, now that you have all the free files on your desktop, you want to do something. Go to a freewebspace server, and open a account that allows FTP access. Alternatively, you can use your own site if you own webspace. Make a folder called "phone" Upload everything you have collected to that folder. Now, here comes the tricky part, but I know you can do it, Im only a computer engineering student and I ddid it. Download the file wml_1.1.xml from HERE with Getright to your desktop. Now, upload this file to your webspace via FTP to the "phone" folder. You should now have all the midi files, the jpg files, and wml_1.1.xml in your "phone" folder. Now, open the wml_1.1.xml file on your desktop with Notepad, and make sure wordwrap is on. Up the top, you should see something like this: <!-- Wireless Markup Language (WML) Document Type Definition. WML is an XML language. Typical usage: <?xml version="1.0"?> <!DOCTYPE wml PUBLIC "-//WAPFORUM//DTD WML 1.1//EN" "some url here/DTD/wml_1.1.xml"> <wml> ... </wml> Well, now it is time to put in the url of your website, plus the folder "phone" plus the filename in the form of http://www.your domain.com/phone/wml_1.1.xml where the other URL is. After you edit it, save it, and upload and OVERWRITE your wml_1.1.xml in your FTP. now, open Notepad. paste this in the document. <?xml version="1.0"?> <!DOCTYPE wml PUBLIC "-//WAPFORUM//DTD WML 1.1//EN" "PUT YOUR URL FROM THE xml DOCUMENT HERE!!"> <wml> <card title="WapLocker"> <p>PUT A NAME HERE</p> <p>P-<a href="someScreenSaver.gif">Screensaver1</a></p> <p>T-<a href="somePolyphonicTone.mid">Tone1</a></p> <p>P-<a href="someBackground.gif">Background1</a></p> </card> </wml> Now, up top where it says PUT YOUR URL FROM THE xml DOCUMENT HERE!!, put in the URL from the xml file (obviously) Now where it says PUT A NAME HERE, Put something like Joe's Tones or whatever you want. Notice in front of the -<a href=" tags there is a T- or a P-. That means Picture or Tone, so whatever you uploaded, you have to put the correct letter in front of the tags you make. Now, where it says the name of the file, that is the names of the files in the "phone" folder on your FTP.to the right of that is what you want to name that Tone or Graphic. Keep pasting and filling in the <p>P-<a href="someFile">someName</a></p> untill you have done all the files in your "phone" folder. Now, save that on your desktop as "default.wml" Upload it to your FTP in the "phone" folder and then make a Favorite in you T720 that has the URL of the wml file. It will look something like this "http://www.yourdomain.com/phone/default.wml" Now, go to mMode or whatever you use, and click on that link, and when you get there, you will see all the links of the files VIA their Name you gave them, and download them!!!!!!!! FREE FREE FREE tones and graphics. Tell me you love me. |

The absolute worst part is, I've done so much research on the T720 now that I've tried all these "free ringtone" ideas already, found them not to work, and gave up on them. I guess I never thought about posting them as a solution for you GSM-types. D~mn Verizon, indeed. I wish I were a lawyer so I could figure out how to sue them for purposefully withholding free services. |

You don't even need the xml. All I do is pop the files in the root of my website, connect to website via the phone, and choose the files.

That's a lot of work putting it on FTP and downloading it with your phone. I'm trying to firgure a successful way by going through the wire. Give EMS Suite 2.0 a try. So far no success for me. I keep gettting this error "Connected mobile phone doesn't support EMS sending". WTF?!!! I don't know if it's the locked phone or?

Thanks for the useful information regarding the file downloads and XML file. However, it would be nice if you didn't rip off my post (with regards to getting TrueSync for free) word for word without giving me credit for it. |

Well it's cool that 1proudbeta is participating, but his info about TrueSync was copied from NeoDigital's previous post and his post about downloading your own ringtones and pictures is useless as you don't need the XML step, you can just download the file directly. http://www.frostzone.com just links you directly to their midi file archive to download ringtones, no XML nonsense. Not to mention it pisses us Verizon users off because we can't do it!! |

Sorry NeoDigital, I did infact copy information from your post, and I did but it was from the WGR Forums, and you are under Guest, so I didnt know who to give credit to. Go to the WGR Post, you will see that I praised you there.
