A SIM card is what controls a GSM phone an essential when you get a GSM phone account the account/phone number is tied to the SIM card not the phone. If you want a SIM card you'll need to talk to a GSM provider like Cingular or T-Mobile

where can i get a sim card for my motorola accompli 009, without going back to cingular which was my provider before. i need a sim card a account and a phone number.

AT&T Wireless or T-Mobile will sell you a SIM card, service, and a phone number. It should work as long as your phone isn't SIM locked.
