Is it possible? Does anyone know where i can get any kind of information on hacking the t720? I'm trying to find information on writing custom software in java using j2me or whatever other options are avaiable. I'll settle for assembly if it's accessible. Does verizon have complete control over what software I put on my phone? Can I add/remove software with the data cable? Any kinda of information or links will be much appreciated. Thanks. |

Go to motorola.com and click on the developer lin, you can register as a developer with them and get everything you need to write and test software for their phones, including the all of SDK's and emulators.

Thanks dude. Does anyone know if it is possible to access the GPS unit in the phone with these SDKs? Nothing in motorola FAQs, guess I'll just download the stuff and mess around with it. Peace.

The real issue is getting it to the phone once you've written it. I'd like to write some sort of datebook software that would be more featured than the standard datebook, but I have no idea how to get it on there once I've written it.

I've never tried using the 720, but I'd think you'd load the bytecode onto a WAP page like you do with other phones if you wanted to download "over the air" (in production) , and that you'd use the data cable if you wanted to load from a compile/test PC for QA purposes. -PatP |

Thats fine and dandy... but VZW wont allow us to download J2ME apps and we dont even know if the data kit will allow us to upload applications to the phone. I really just want to backup the ringtones I have spent hours typing in... and upload games to my phone. |
