free www on t720 To set up wireless web on the T720 using a public gateway, just go
into Menu -> Settings -> Browser Setup -> New Entry and set the IP
to the IP listed on that waptunnel page (207.232.99.109) . Then, you
need to set your Homepage - wap.oa.yahoo.com
No username or password required.
This is great as I was getting sick of $7 a month for something I
hardly ever use. Now I won't have to pay for the convience of
having it available.

free www on t720 WOW! Thanks a lot! Are there any downsides to not using Verizon
's web service? The Yahoo WAP page seems a little bit of a pain to navigate, and for some reason the links in their directories don't work and give me error messages. What other cool WAP sites should I link to?

free www on t720 I currently subscribe to VZW mobile web ($4.99 mo.)and have been trying out waptunnel. My initial reaction is that although waptunnel is free, VZW is much easier to navigate. Using waptunnel, if i hit a wrong key while in Yahoo mobile, I get logged out and have to sign in again (sometimes 3 or times during one session). I, too find it a bit of a pain. Also the VZW gives me much more access to sites that waptunnel does not. Waptunnel is nice but offers so much less than I currently get with VZW mobile web.

free www on t720 So this WAP is free ? I have been using it all day today (sunday) and I have free nights and weekends, and this only uses airtime minutes ? no additional charge
? so therefore this was free ? Also was wondering does signing up with the Web thru Verizon
is it Color ? or is it the same monotone colors as is the WAP yahoo site ?

free www on t720 okay, first of all, I recommend all of you read the thread I linked, which has some better information. Some seem to have the wrong idea or have crossed the definition of a Gateway and a Portal. WAP Tunnel is not providing content, it merely provides access to portals like Yahoo. Pammy has copied and apparently tried to take credit for, word-for-word, exactly what I wrote, but left out a large part of the explanation.

Try re-posting link as this one results in an error message.

free www on t720 Maybe someone should check their ego. I didn't even know that this link had been posted here. Following is the exact email minus the person who sent it to me (I don't give out email addresses without permisson). I just simply copied the body of the email and posted it here if it offended someone who has a ego the size of China I am sorry.

free www on t720 Ripper, yeah, this forum has some weird link code formatting, I tried to redo it several times and it wouldn't work even with the link enclosed in quotes. If you copy the text of the link directly into your browser, it works fine.
aa799, it should theoretically be possible on any phone with a WAP browser. Follow the instructions in the thread linked above. You may have to do a little bit of guesswork to figure out where in your configuration to enter the IPs, port, homepage, etc. but if you can set up an independent WAP browser in your phone, you can use this.
pammy, imagine if you'd bothered to write out a pretty detailed explanation describing something you'd learned and then discovered someone copying it verbatim without citing any sort of source, as if they'd written it. Not a 'hey, I found this' or 'hey, someone wrote this but I thought it should have its own thread' or 'this came in an email' but just plain pasted it. Would that piss you off in the slightest? If not, wait until you have some information to share and I'll ask you again. First you offend by posting someone else's information, and then by accusing me of having an "ego" because I was annoyed. I'm not asking for freaking paypal donations or worship, just some recognition of what was clearly something I wrote.

free www on t720 Hey if you got offended by me posting an email that I recieved that is too bad. I didn't know that you had posted it here. I have never saw it. I did ask the person I got the email from and he said to share it with whomever I like so you have no right to take offense with me.

free www on t720 Please explain to me how a person who copied something written by someone else can somehow give a third person permission to further copy it? Your logic is completely backward.Originally posted by: pammy

free www on t720 KMHPaladin: THANKS! You rock. I just cancelled my Verizon
WW. I never used it anyway.. just had it "just in case".
If anyone figures out how to make this work on a V60i, please let me know. I just spent several minutes on my buddy's phone trying to find the gateway settings, but didn't see them. I have trouble believing that the T720 is the only phone that lets you access this. Maybe it's in a hidden setup menu that only VZW is supposed to access?

free www on t720 Wow, this is absolutely amazing. I felt so guilty paying for Wireless Web from Verizon
when I only used it when I'm studying and want to check sports scores. Sweet guys. The time I spend searching these forums definitely pays off.

free www on t720 RobW: happy to help, hopefully Verizon
will realize that people aren't willing to pay for a service they can get for free when they're also being billed airtime. Either that, or they'll get smart and lock it . I have emailed Themlruts as I am trying to put together a tutorial on Verizon
and free WW and the V60i would be good to add. I know that in the Programming menu of the T720, you can edit the homepage and gateway like you can under Browser Setup. I don't know what the code to access this menu is on the V60i, but on the T720 it's Menu, 073887* with Access code "000000" so I'm sure a search will yield the V60i process. That may help if nothing else.
Themlruts and nightofdreams, unfortunately it's not free. You are still billed airtime for using this service, you are only evading the c. $6.95 monthly fee to use Verizon
's gateway and portal. So use it sparingly or on nights/weekends .

free www on t720 I am currently using the Verizon
service..
though when i went to the Yahoo portal it knew i was a Verizon
user and i was prompted to agree to their terms and it logged me in automatically (I had previously set up my phone number as a device at mobile.yahoo.com
so my guess is that since i had set up my device at mobile.yahoo.com that it automatically logged me in so i didnt have to or is partly because i just use the "goto url" functionality on the web menu?

free www on t720 BburgJeepGuy, I think you've solved the problem of how to 'stay' logged in for Yahoo. I presume you're talking about this? Have you experienced any spamming as a result? From what they say, "this will enable us to send information to you, and help us format the messages for you," I got very wary. Would be interested to hear about your experience.
Themlruts, check here as I believe it may answer your question.

free www on t720 Jeep Guy, The reason why you are already logged in is that you are using Verizon
's mobile web to access the Yahoo portal. Once logged on to mobile web, access to all portals such as AOL, Yahoo, (Yahoo Bookmarks), MSN etc... is automatic unless you log out of mobile web. I never log out of mobile web and therefore never need to sign in to any portals. That is one of the things that is tedious about waptunnel - but then it's free. I have tried both mobile web and waptunnel and I don't mind paying the $5 mo. for mobile web. It is much easier to navigate and offers more portal access

service does not know my yahoo username/pw which are different on yahoo.. how did it log me in automatically into yahoo & display my yahoo username on the phone.. my guess was that it was due to me registering my phone number at yahoo?
KMHPaladin, yes thats what i signed up for. but i have not set up to receive any alerts at the moment so i havent received any messages/spam on the phone.

free www on t720 KMHPaladin, thanks for this post. I must have missed it the first time arround I guess. This is so sweet. I just use the web to check sports scores when I can't watch the game, so paying $8/month is kinda of steep to just use it every so often. You just solved my delima of getting my mobile web turned back on.
Thanks!!
