Hey there. Maybe someone can help me. I am having difficulties installing the drivers for my v120.e motorola. I have the USB cable. I have also managed to locate the infamous missing inf files (USBMDMMOT.inf and USBCDCMOT.inf). When I hook up the phone to my USB hub - the device manager goes through its usual routine and gives me a "Motorola Communications Interface" device under "other devices", but when I try to install the driver by navigating to where the inf files are - it keeps indicating the folder does not have information for my hardware. I have even copied the files to the Windows/INF folder and have tried letting it automatically search. Nothing is working. What am I doing wrong here? Any help would be appreciated (BTW - going to serial is not an option). Thanks! Joshua |

Did you install the updates for the truesync software via the internet update feature?

I appreciate the response. Yes - I already installed the updates for True Sync. The problem I have is not with the sync software - it is with the driver for the V120. My computer is not recognizing the INF files for the phone. The device manager is showing a question mark for Motorola communications interface - indicating an incomplete / improper driver installation. Does anyone have any suggestions and/or other ideas? |

you wrote that you hooked up your device through a USB HUB. Try hooking the device directly to the master port, some devices will not work correctly (i.e. scanners, cameras) if connected through a hub.

I bought one of these phones recently from Verizon and had similar issues trying to make it work with the USB kit. I later confirmed with the reseller who sold me the USB kit that the USB Driver for the V120e is not yet available. It is suppose to be coming out soon. Hopefully this will resolve the communication issue with the Truesync software.

The latest software TrueSync Software, version 3.1 is out and available from Starfish.com for upgrading the V120e to be compatible with 98326 USB kit. To download go to the Motorola site and look up USB Data Kit - 98326 and there is a link for the free upgrade. That'll solve your problem. I just upgraded mine and everything works fine now with my V120e phone. Good luck! |

Okay, I don't know if anyone still needs this info or not but here goes. The update from the web DOES NOT WORK. At least not for me. In fact it BROKE my install. TrueSync would refuse to communicate with the 120e in any way shape or form. Here's what I did to get my 120e sync'ing with Outlook AND acting as a modem under XP. 1. Install the USB driver off the CD that came with my cable (Its a setup, don't remember the path right now) 2. Find the 120e's device id. Regedit revealed: USB\Vid_22b8&Pid_2822 3. Edit the c:\windows\inf\USBMOT2000.INF file so that the [Motorola] section looks like: [Motorola] %USBCDMA% = USBCDMA, USB\VID_22B8&PID_0005 %USBCDMA% = USBCDMA, USB\Vid_22b8&Pid_2822 %USBPATRIOT% = USBPATRIOT, USB\VID_22B8&PID_1005 4. Plug phone in, run through the normal windows install -- whola, V120e modem (installed exact same as a v120c modem) 5. Install the truesync software and use normally. DON'T DO WEB UPDATES! When I update the v120 Accessor module (Version 1.0.6.36) I get the following error in the TrueSync Log: "V._Series_120-W0016: TrueSync has detected that your phone is not a model '120c' phone. The phone detected is a model '120e' phone. Please attach the correct phone." If I go back to the previous version of the 120 Accessor (Version 1.0.6.34) it syncs my phone book fine. The issue I'm having is syncing the calendar--not a big deal, but I'd like to see it work at least. So has anyone actually gotten the V120e working with TrueSync as a V120e--syncing Calendar and Contacts? ---- update ----- Okay, I'm an idiot. I'm running about the oldest version of TrueSync possible. For whatever reason when I updated before I never had the option to update my actual software version--just the Accessor's. Anyway, I've updated to version 3.1 something and it seems to have WAY more features and options. Going to go play some more. -------------------- |
