According to motonext it's now called the V262. Any thoughts why. Seems like a waste of time to me.Motonext V262 |

It's a real low end Motorola- no fancy bells and whistles. I'm also leaning towards the tendency that it is a waste. Most people look for a camera on the phone even though they rarely use it. Others want BT, MP3, MMC slot... even if they'll be amused with it for the first month and never touch it again. |

Also, I don't know that I'd say it has NO bells & whistles...it shares several things with the V710 - speakerphone, user-independent voice dial, WAP 2.0. It may well be capable of playing MP3 ringers too, but since VZW hasn't been advertising or supporting that for V710 yet, maybe Moto left it off the spec page? This is a good entry/mid-level phone, filling the void left by the disappearance of the v60i.

The name was not changed. The V260 is for Verizon and will be "T720 silver" in color and plastic. The V262 will have the "V300 like" soft outside shell in blue. Other than the exterior both phones are identical. All three V26x series phones are based on the V710 software. Much like how the V300, V400, and V500 are all really a V600 with different options enabled. Any slight improvements you may notice in the V26x software will be rolled into the V710 update patch. |

He means that the V260 will be the same silver color as the T720. Not that it will BE the T720.

Verizon V265 and V260 is finishing up testing this week. The phone will be approved this month. That doesn't mean Verizon will launch right away.
