v66 subsidy password HELP!!!!!

hi i got a free t-mobile v66 phone from a friend and i have a cingular plan on my existing phone i was told that they use the same servers so i decided to swap the SIM cards in each of the phones...when i turned on the v66 it said enter subsidy password...does anyone know where i can get one or if i should call cingular or t-mobile!?!? is the subsidy code the same as the lock code for cingular!?!?

Yes, the subsidy lock code is the same as the [NCK] unlock code. Your friend that gave you the phone should call T-Mobile and request the unlock code from them. It should arrive in a couple of weeks via email. If you are in the Southern California area, you can always drop by our office and have your v66 unlocked for you in about 30 seconds. I have the same phone and it has very good reception with a great form factor. Good Luck!

Hi i have a similar problem, right now im in italy, i bought this stupid phone from a t-mobile provider without ever having their service because he said that it would work in europe! so i put an italian sim in and it asks for the subsidy code so what can i do im willing to pay! please help

Non si preoccupi. Send a request with the phone's IMEI number (press *#06# to get this number) and your name and address to simunlock@t-mobile.com and explain your situation. They're pretty good about responding and this saves you having to call the U.S. from il bel paese.

Is this a scam. people are jumping through hoops to get thier phones unlocked and T-Mobile will just do it for free by sending you all the information that someone needs, over the internet, to rip your phone off the network. can we have some real verification please, or, some horror stories.
