Default Answering/Hanging up w/o opening clamshell on T720?

Other than setting the phone on auto-answer, is there a way to pickup/hang up the phone via a smart earpiece (like a Jabra earbud) without opening the clamshell? I typically use a cellphone hooked to my belt, and just click the earpiece trigger to pick up/hang up the phone. I could do it with my old Samsung N200, but the T720 doesn't seem to have this capability.

Am I just ignorant? I couldn't find anything in the documentation, other than enabling auto answer. All the trigger on my earpiece seems to do is mute the microphone while holding it down. I can deal with having to press the voice dial button on the phone, but when I'm driving, I need to be able to hang up without having to pick up the darn phone and open/close the clamshell (for leaving voicemail, etc.) Love the phone, but this is some pretty basic functionality that I absolutely must have.

Thanks,

when set on auto answer - my OEM motorola hands free headset can answer the phone after it initially rings. to hang up, i simply press and hold the button down.

if you have your password or other access numbers preprogrammed on v-dial, a soft press of the button will send the tones out. all without flipping the phone open.

StuntUIC,

How many contacts does your earpiece have? My Jabra has 3 contaces (2 black bands.) I'm wondering if I just need a new earpiece.

Cheers,

what do you mean by contacts? my headset is a simple ear piece (round shape)

i believe the jabba(sp) headsets have gel type ear pieces. if you are referring to the button that allows me to do the functions i spoke about ... im not sure if you have that capablity with your ear piece. i know the ear piece the verizon rep tried to offer me was $5 and didnt have a one touch answer key. it was ONLY a headset.

hope that helps.

By contacts, I mean on the mini-plug side. How many black lines does the plug on your earpice have? That dictates how it behaves. Since you have a Motorola one, I'm curious as to whether it has a different plug than mine.

StuntUIC,
Can you please let me know which (model #) OEM motorola hands free headset you have. I have a Samsung one touch headset I bought awhile ago at Target that worked fine with my LG 510 for answering, sending and ending calls. However when I try using it on my T720, all I can do with the button is mute while holding it in.
