Something I've been waiting on. Radio Shack and VZW retail store didn't have them available yet, but VZW website store has them. Product description: Battery (Extended) $49.99 Have an extra battery available if your charger is not available this battery is 1400 mAh Lithium Ion battery. Battery times vary based upon personal use and system transition. Went ahead & ordered one. Have to see what kind of improvement this provides. Last edited by lurchsjn; 08-31-2004 at 2:37 PM. |

Let us know! I've found the standard battery to be fine with regular usage. When I do a lot of web browsing, though, it eats the battery up. That high color screen lit up on both sides likes batteries.

Is the only way to charge an additional battery by having it in the phone? Or is there a desktop charger that will work?

Got mine yesterday, quick delivery (Fedex 2nd day). It does come with a separate back cover, figured as bulky as it was that a deeper battery cover would be required. Turned off the V710, installed the new battery, and charged it overnight. Let's see how long it'll run, and I do have Bluetooth enabled for use with my HF800. |

You will probably want to give it 3 or 4 days before you really judge it. My standard battery was worthless at first, but got a lot better after a few charges.

I have my 710 for over 2 weeks now. Frst I thought that the phone couldnt use its full batery life because it wasnt in the cyclus yet. But after 2 weeks I m kinda wondering if that is still the case. My phone usually dies after a day to a day and a half. I dont have BT enabled and other than that I dont talk that much the phone and I usually dont just browse around. How do you gus get 2-3 days in?

Well, I've gone through a couple of charging sessions with it and am pleased with the extended life battery for the V710. It goes over 2 days, close to 3, before dropping from 3 bars to 2. About a day before it goes from 2 to 1, and about 8-12 hours for it to go from 1 to "Charge Battery". My usage is with Bluetooth on talking to HF800 (Bluetooth speakerphone), some web surfing, and about an hour of so of talk time. |

Today the battery meter (the one under phone info, not the on-screen icon) dropped from full (six bars) to four bars, but it's still at 4 bars after ~8 hours. I'm going to charge it tonight, and see how it holds up to real use this week. But right now it's looking like 2x the original battery, so I'm quite happy. My only complaint is the new back. It's necessary due to the thicker battery, but couldn't they have made it less angular? It feels boxy when I hold the phone in my hand, where the old one was smooth and more comfortable to hold. It's a minor nit, but an annoying one since it would have been trivial to avoid. | |
