Motorola V60g/steel antenna

Does anyone know how to take off the antenna on the Voicestream version of the Motorola V60, the V60g? I read on Ebay you simply unscrew it, but that's not the case. I also notice a rubber "button" on the back of the phone, and upon further investigation, it turns out to be a protective cover for some sort of gold colored screw or something. I like the idea of getting a smaller, more durable antenna, but will this make reception better or worse?

I was going through the same dilemma: Wanted to get a smaller steel antenna, but was afraid to break it off.
Well, on one site http://www.factorydirectcellular.com...0.htm#antennas, I saw a replacement kit for my antenna. Da hell with $10, I thought, and grabbed a pair of pliers [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif[/img]

The trick is to not grab the antenna part that twists, but to grab the thin plastic ring that looks more like a part of the mount. It's really easy to come off, so don't worry, and happy customizing!
