Has any one been able to get Mobile Phone Tools working with the V710? I have tried both via Bluetooth (Belkin BT adapter) and USB direct cable. With the Bluetooth it keeps saying Initilizing and while connected to the USB cable the system does not even see a phone conneted (could be my machine though) Also can MPT be used with a V60S??? Thanks Dave |

It's your machine, for the USB. USB works flawlessly on mine; BT does not work, this is a known issue that Motorola is rumored to be working on.

You need to install MPT 2.21b, then click on live update so it will get you to 2.21e, this will solve the USB issue. It will work on v60s also.

Hey All! Once I had the phone seen with 2.21B then I upgraded. When I had installed 1.2 then 2.21b, then upgraded all the way to 2.21F I could not get the system to work withthe V710 and only once withthe V60s. Now both work fine. Dave |

Thanks again for everyone's feedback. Instead of LiveUpdating to the next rev, I just downloaded the 2.21b update patch and installed it. That worked. Don't think I'll upgrade from there until they get them a little more stable.

I'll tell you, I got the USB cable to transfer pix and mp3's. But after an hour on the phone with some Russian tech guy, I got MobilePhoneTools2 and the update to install properly and recognize the v710 (I had to uninstall MPT, then reinstall it, then, before running for the first time, I had to download and run the latest (20MB anyway, to make a long story short. The company that wrote MPT2 hasn't actually written the software to handle media transfer, and the next patch "which is supposed to fix it" isn't due until November... Funny they didn't mention that when they were advertizing the product... Not the phones fault, but still... Looks like I'll be getting a trans flash card for transfers, and maybe use the cable for entering peoples birthdays in the calandar or something... |

You can use the USB cable to synch your phonebook and calendar. You can also use it as a modem to dial up to your ISP. You can also configure it to connect to #777, using yournumber@vzw3g.com as the username and vzw as the password. This will allow you to connect with the internet. It uses your airtime minutes, but you don't need to subscribe to verizons service. You can use the modem functions via BT. According to some people on this and other forums, the software update coming next month will allow the phonebook and calendar updates to function via BT. Also the cable can be readily found on ebay. I got mine for $7 ($2 for the cable, 5 for shipping) with a T720 leather case, which I gave to my MIL with my old 720. |

It's a card that allows you to change your gender and then... Uh, no wait.. It's a mini version of an SD card that fits in your phone. The trans part means you can put it in an adapter and transfer data to any device with an SD slot. It's a handy feature, but the phone doesn't ship with one, AND nobody seems to have them in stock right now... Grrr.... john6six: That's a really cool tip about connecting to the internet! Thanks... Can I use it with the phones browser, or is it just sort of an emergency modem thing if youre connected to a laptop? |

I doubt you will get a definitive answer on this. I don't see why you feel you are unlucky for getting the phone early from RS. If you went and bought it today from VZW, you would get the same phone for the same price. Unless you were eligible for NE2.

I know its been a few weeks since this was posted but... What you need to do once you have 2.21f installed is... right click "my computer" , Select properties, then device manager. Find where it shows motorola with a yellow question mark over it. Right click that, select update drivers. When prompted, the new drivers are in: c:\program files\motorola phone center\ ini or something like that. it took a few seconds to find and install the correct drivers. Now when I run phone center it works just fine. | |

I am tempted to pick up Mobile Phone Tools off of ebay for my V710 but I had one question. If you sync with MS Outlook are appointments with alarms synced as alarms or can you turn off the alarms during the sync so the entries only appear in your phone calendar without reminders? I want to be able to glance at my phone to see upcoming appointments but I don't want Outlook, my Palm and my phone reminding me simultaneously for the same meetings. Thanks, Slim |

You can silence the alarm on the phone. I think you may still get the pop up, but it won't go off on you. Go into Settings...Ring Styles then go into each styles details and change the alarm setting to silent.
