I'm one of the people that Verizon must love to hate: I pretend I'm an early adopter, go in and get the latest phone I can find, then find out that the latest Motorola offering sucks rocks compared to my st7868. Of course, the only offering as of late that I've even been able to try is the t720. This phone, while an advancement over my StarTac of a few years ago, proceeded to falter beneath my expectations again, and again. Dropping calls with 5 signal bars, crappy battery life, and failure of the simplestthings (is it so much to ask that people can hear me when I talk to them, and vice versa? Never an issue on the StarTac, always a problem on the t720). After my second dropped call on the t720, I decided it was time to send Motorola a nastygram, and return to my st7868. I thought I would be relegated to this trusty phone for the remainder of my natural life, for if the t720 was going to be the future direction for all the Motorola products, I would be obliged to take the StarTac to my grave. However, at the last minute, I hear that the v60s is becoming available... Around the time I wanted to upgrade, I could no longer find any v60 within 50 miles of me, as they had left the stores. No choice but the t720, which I would not make again. So, on the 26th of December, I headed down to the Verizon store in Wilmington. Much to my distinctive pleasure, they had the v60s on display. I picked it up, powered off my StarTac, and have not looked back since. Why?
Sorry to gush like this, but it's so good to finally get a phone from Verizon that doesn't suck. This is forcing me to put the st7868 on ebay. I think that is saying a great deal... |

I've got thoughts on the v60s also. I can't figure out why, with all the phones out there, some with color screens, others take pictures, even more play games, okay, how did I end up with this phone? I'm a gadget kind of guy. Here's the kicker: I love it. It's like I've been drawn to this phone. I got it yesterday and I don't care about the other stuff, I love this phone. No games, no color, no pictures, just a phone. A speakerphone. So much for the rambling, I just couldn't be happier with a phone. |

At least Verizon's finally offering another phone that just works. My old Samsung SCH-411 was such a phone, and it served me very well. If there were no T-Mobile, the V60s might even be enough to convince me to come back to Verizon. Unfortunately, as of last night VZW lost a friend of mine as a customer due to all the hoops they tried to make him jump through just to get a V60s at under retail price.

I agree with everyone 100%. no crazy lights, cheasy camera phones, color draining screens. just a well built phone that works excellent. I like the speakerphone alot, noone has been able to tell they are on speaker yet. amazing. Loud and clear speakerphone which is priceless to me. everything else is meaningless. The excellent voice dialing (at arms length no less) works perfect. it's going to be a long time before I give this one up. My startac and V60i are gone. |

Count me as another refugee from the 7868 camp -- I thought nothing would tear me from my beloved StarTac (outside of it starting to misbehave -- the earpiece speaker was cutting in and out). I first bought an LX4400B -- not a bad phone, but too gimmicky feeling. Returned it, got the v60s, now I'm happy. Whaddya know -- a phone that's actually a phone, not a Game Boy. Battery life is terrific, call quality is great, reception is great (although there are a tiny number of places where I could get signal on the StarTac that the v60s can't handle, like the basement of my office building. Only thing I'm still getting used to is the placement of the power and send buttons -- I still think they're at the bottom of the keypad. Oh, well, that should be the worst of it, right? |
