Hi Folks, Need some expert advice. I have two competing providers looking to sell me a phone plan. Provider A is offering either a Nokia 3586i for free or an Audivox 8600 for $50. Provider B is offering a Nokia 3595 for free or a Motorola T720G for $80 (all with the "plan" of course). Provider B has been trashing the AudioVox, saying out of the 4 phones I'm considering, the AudioVox is inferior. Comments from others? Will the flip phones hold up as well as the non-flip Nokias? Also, looking at the Nokia, some of the number buttons "share" a button (press top or bottom for a 2 or 5 for instance). Do those perform well? Provider B also says that Provider A's phones are "older" generation. Thanks for your help. |

Welcome to WA! A is trashing B and so on...not surprising. While I do not know about the rocker type buttons, I have not heard of any problems with them. I had a T720 with Verizon and the service was great, but the phone itself was full of glitches. While getting a phone you're happy with is important, the most important aspect of purchasing a cell phone is coverage. You said that the plans were identical, I'll assume you're talking about price. I know that Verizon wireless will give you a 15 day trial period with their service. If coverage is not an issue and the decision comes soley to the phones, I have a friend with a 3595 and loves it! I hope this helps, feel free to post with any new questions!

Provider A (Alltel or Verizon) vs. B (AT&T or Cingular) has been raging for a long time. Here's what I would do. Figure out what phone you like best from each provider. Purchase it with a plan. Now you have two phones to try for 15 days. Figure out which phone you like best and which provider has the best coverage in your area. Now decide which is more important, the neatest phone or the best coverage (by the way, if the neatest phone also has the best coverage, this is a no brainer). After you have figured it out, return the phone you don't want and cancel your plan with that provider. Careful. Most providers won't let you cancel if the phone life timer has over 30 minutes on it. Happy Hunting!
