Before y'all start laughing, this is not even funny. Was sitting in grass with a friend earlier and I had my phone in my hand. Well, I didn't know there was a dog crap in the grass where I happen to brush my phone by. I literally stabbed my poor v120c's bottom connector into a dog crap. . With my friend pathetically laughing at me, I took it out of the leather case, threw the case away and I took the battery out as fast as I could. I wiped the connector off with paper towel the best I could. When I got home, I took the phone apart(with a modified hex wrench, didn't have the T6 torx), dipped the board in water just shallow enough to not get water on shrowded RF components and agitated. Repeated a few times, then shook the water out. I was planning on washing the whole plastic case out, but wasn't able to do so, because speaker and vibrator motor are permanently attached to the case. I couldn't dunk the rear case either, because that would damage the ESN sticker. So I did the samething. Dipped far enough to get the bottom part w/o getting water on things. Finally, I got it together and it works, but is there a chance I'll run into problems later on? If so, what are the symptoms? Second, even though the multiple wash cycles, the connector area still smells a bit If this phone somehow turns out to be a total loss, how much do I have to pay for a new v120e or v60i? |

Ummmm, two words... Electrical Cleaner. (Water is bad) V60i on Ebay will run you about $120-160 and a 120e will cost you about $100. I bought a 120c a while ago for $1 and sold another for $70. Just don't get caught up in an auction. |

This is something I do every single day for customers with water damage, poop damage, etc... RUBBING _______ (92% and up only). take the phone apart and soak the whole board in _______ for a few minutes. (will not affect esn sticker if only for a few minutes)... then allow to dry for a few hours before reassembling phone. in your case, i wouldnt bother since it was only crap on the charging unit. if you want, take an old toothbrush with some _______ on it and scrub that connection. (hold phone vertically as if you were on a call so that unwanted extra _______ doesnt go inside the phone.-it will not dry properly if the phone is not apart to air out) as mentioned in another reply to your post, electrical cleaning solutions are probably the safest way to go (faster drying). you can usually find these things as Radio Shack, and hardware stores. get one with the highest _______/ether content you can. $7-$15. i actually cleaned up a phone with aerosol brake cleaner one time. worked pretty well. i dont recommend that though. |

As long as the phone still works now, call up and add the insurance plan -=K=- |

Although if I had to repeat the process again, what if I wash it in water, then wash in _______ to remove water? What are the symptoms of phones failing as a result of prior water damage? | |

Jerboy: The phone could start rebooting by itself, or all of a sudden, turning off and not coming back on, a number of things. Those two things started happening when my v60i (before recently replaced) took a swim in my cousins glass of vanilla coke. What can I say? The phone was thirsting for a dip. Anyways, if your phone is working now, I'd add insurance, so that when/if your phone does decide to die, you'll be able to just pay the $50.00 deductible and you'll most likely end up with a v120e. H.T.H, and good luck!

I wouldn't repeat the process with water... Just buy some sort of _______ based electrical cleaner. As the king of crap, I would like to apologize for one of my subjects. If you do go the insurance route, make sure water damage doesn't void it.

As craptain said, if you do decide to get ins. when the make the claim, don't say you dipped your phone in water etc. Say it fell in the sink or something. . Craptain, I think I stepped in one of your subjects with my new shoes....*WAIVES FIST* YOULL PAY!!!
