Has anyone talked with VZW about setting up a PTT account with only PTT, no calls? In other words, no service other than PTT. This might be useful from a fleet point of view, such as delivery or a multiple warehouse situation. I've been following these PTT threads with a lot if interest (from a distance). My area does not offer NEXTEL and I/we have been eyeing PTT service for years with no availability. I thought someone might bring it up but I got tired of waiting and joined the forum to ask my question. Tks, Jaqx |

But then you wouldn't have Mobile-to-Mobile backup if someone was out of the 1X area.

Very true on the M2M. I had a "duh" moment and called 611 and asked about the PTT only thing. They said no and when I asked a few more questions the rep said there had been no discussion of it. On another note. I'm one year into a two year contract with my 720. Will I have to pay full retail for a V60p or is there some magic phrase to beat the contract penalty? I asked the rep on the phone and he was non-commital, he referred me to a retail store but reiterated that I still had a year to go.... Jaqx |

If you have a high enough rate plan they will give you the promo price after 12 months out of a 24 month contract.

With the V60p you can restrict the phone not to make cellular calls or restrict it to the phonebook only.

If PTT is all you require and Nextel isn't an option, why bother using an "inferior" system like Verizon PTT when you can use the real thing? Just go with a Motorola radio solution. You can go from 5 mile radius to state wide coverage with every price point inbetween. From a fleet perspective in car solutions can be far more advanced than anything Verizon can offer. Also the radio will survive being dropped, kicked, rained on, and exposed to fire. It will also be instant communication and not up to 10 seconds waiting. http://www.motorola.com/cgiss/products.shtml |
