hi! i have a t-mobile t720i and it was recently lost/stolen (yesterday). i did everything i could to find the phone but i don't think i will be able to. i already called t-mobile to suspend the account. 1) can someone actually use my stolen phone and reprogram it? i thought since the ESN was unique that no one could ever activate that phone again without having it show up that it was stolen. 2) anyone know of a way i can get a replacement from t-mobile or anywhere else for free or for a very reduced price? thank you.

I'm not an expert on T-Mobile or GSM, but I would assume that some one could just pop out your SIM card and put in their own, and use the phone. It wouldn't be used on your account, but they would still have a free phone. GSM phones don't have ESNs, they have IMEI numbers, that serve a similar purpose to an ESN. Maybe T-Mo could somehow suspend the IMEI number to prevent the phone from being used, but I don't know what their switching set up is like. As for replacing it, unless you have insurance of qualify for an upgrade, you're look at either full retail price, or maybe finding a good deal on eBay. Good luck. |

Check with your homeowner's or renter's insurance. If you have either, a certain amount of moveable personal property is covered.

Why don't you just call your cell phone and ask the person if you can have it back.

well... in some cases I can tell you that it is VERY Rare that people return phones/property. Unfortunately honesty has died, In most major metropolitan areas.

No IM serious, true story, some customer came in and had the same problem as theorist and she told me that when she called the guy to get her phone back, he got fresh with her on the phone and she decided to just buy another one from me.
