Default Ringer ID and Text Messages?!?!

So I assigned a certain ringtone to one of my contacts (Ringer ID) and it works when they call, but when they send me a text message it plays the entire ringtone, which is like a 35 second song!! This was a HORRIBLE design by motorola! Is there any way to fix this or am I hosed?

Thanks in advance...

btw, i've already used the search function and couldn't find a solution

Sorry, but I think you're stuck. Looking at the text message doesn't stop the song? That's stupid.

Hopefully, they'll fix this problem in the future with a software update.

Try pressing power on/off.end call key (the RED key), Then go into the text INBOX and read your message, by pressing that key it should silence the phone!!! If not, then id say yes you are hosed! Good Luck

Hmm...when the ringer plays from my text messages, it stops once I begin to read it. It would be annoying if it kept playing the whole song. You can try getting a different phone from Verizon. I'm on my 7th phone and each one has had its quirks.
I have the 2dp software, btw.

Default Ringer ID and Text Messages?!?!

i wonder if this is the verizon software only.

i have the at&t version of the t720 on GSM, and i've assigned ring tones to various people, however my text message notification is the same (in the LOUD profile) ..... i've never experienced this problem.

the only problem i have is finding a good tone for a text message :-)
