Despite Zander and Garriques wanting this out in the 1st Qtr, or at worst by the analyst meeting, I'm hearing that its not going well and the phone may be moved out to mid May.

With the Treo 700 selling well I think Motorola was hoping to capitalize on its thinner design with all the same Microsoft selling points. At this pace Treo will probably come out with a refresh and fix the bugs in its current design.

Motorola looks to miss the boat on this one.

Moto changed the promo page from Q1 to Q2 to 1st half 06 to now April. That is much more specific than the past. Also April is the date I've heard for quite some time now. That still doesn't gurantee an April release, just an April end to testing. Remember Verizon sat on the A840 for 4 months.

RCR Wireless news is reporting that Moto announced an April date for the Q, as well.

That was based on nothing more than this moto page, http://www.motorola.com/mdirect/q/index.html , that has since changed to say shipping soon instead of april.

Here's your scoop, it won't be April, if all goes well look for it in mid-May.

The phone remains on target to be released in April. As with every phone, Verizon determines the first day of sale. In this case, Verizon has delayed any launch announcement until an event can be arranged in New York in May.

The fact that the phone was announced so early means everyone has time to complain about how it isn't in their hands. If a phone is announced in late July and available 30 days later, would you be happier? People will probably be pissed when that phone is announced because they will have just signed a 2 year contract for some other phone and complain that they didn't know it was coming.

That is true, but there has to be something in between 1 month and 1 year. In addition, Zander's comments of pre-holiday 2005 didnt help things. If they said it will be out in may, and it came out in may, there would be way less compaints.
