I am eager. I want to try and get a V3i if Cingular will get off their A** and get it to market.

If you are using a non-cingular flex on a Razr and cannot get AIM to work, please follow these instructions. Download the attached file, unzip, and copy these files to the /a/wvim folder on your phone (I deleted the original files in my wvim folder first that had the same names) and it should then work. These files are from the Cingular flex I found that on another forum and tried it and it worked great

Here is another file that lets you explore your phone using a gui interface. HOWEVER BE WARNED THAT IT IS NOT FOR THE UNINFORMED AS IT WILL SHOW YOU ALL FILES INCLUDING IMPORTANT SYSTEM FILES AND IF YOU ARE NOT CAREFUL YOU COULD DELETE NECESSARY FILES AND TURN YOUR PHONE INTO A BRICK. I only post it here since it is just another useful software tool for people looking to mod, add wallpapers and ringtones, etc. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.

Attaching yet another cool utility you can use to mod settings on the razr, and some other moto phones (have used it on my V557). You can adjust speaker volume, earpiece volume, change startup and shut down graphics and more. Utility can do lots, but be careful as it can brick your phone if you don't know what your are doing. Avoid the seem editing section, flex section etc., unless you know what you are doing. Other than that program is pretty straight forward.

Props to mottomodders.net where I got this from.

If you work fine with MPT then you probably need to install updated P2K drivers. Motomodders has them. The software drivers are tricky. I know for a while my P2K drivers were working, but MPT did not, and then one day MPT just started working.

Unfortunately there is no definitive step-by-step guide to install the software & drivers. The hardest to get working is if you are running Windows XP w/ Service Pack 2. If I have time over the next few months I will experiment and try to create a definitive step-by-step guide, but until then you just have to play with it until it works. It took me about 2 months to get all my software working properly, and over that time frame it is difficult to say what was installed first. Once you properly get the P2k drivers configured then you can just install just about any P2K software and it will work immediately.

Smile Re: Jay's reference base for modding Motorola phones

So, I'm still confused.. is it.. or is it not possible to have an "engineering" mode on the V3? I'd love to know when it's switching towers, for example.. and stuff like that.

Jay, do u have the answer?

I haven't put my hands on a V3 to experiment with. I've heard of others that have done it, but the people I've tried to talk through it on Email have not been able to successfully do it. I have engineering unlocked on my V551. I am ready to upgrade my phone, but I am hesitating on getting a V3. I would like to get a 3G Motorola if possible. If I can get a V3 cheap on Ebay I'll do the stuff to unlock the menus and post a flex file to make it easy because I get a lot of requests like that.

Yeah.. I've tried many options with p2k and some of the seem editors... but it hasn't shown up on my v3 yet.

On the V3 you also have to add it to your menus. THere was a shortcut keypress that brought up FEM, that might bypass the fact that it isn't in your menus. I don't remember what it is though. I saw it on Motomodders once.

Howdy... first off, if there is an admin here someplace, you should know that my first login here shut down my Firefox. Harrumph. Oh well.

Anyway, my friend has a Motorola V60i and I see these little emergency power packs for sale you can get for your phone that let you talk for an hour if your battery is crapping out. Thing is, the Motorola one they have is marked for a Motorola V8160. Anybody know if that would be any good to use for the V60i? As in would it fit the connector and be the correct voltage? These cost a buck and seem to be a nice thing to keep in your car.

I don't think they're compatible, but I may be wrong. If the charging port is the same it will work. The V60 series was very popular, and used a pretty standard charger. If the battery pack you are looking to buy fits that model it would probably say so.

Default Link reference #1 to n00b guide not working

Unless it's intended as a massive RIP on new users, the #1 referenced link to MOTOMODDERS n00b guide doesn't work.

- bunch of required registration screens, then pay $5 screens, then the link or the posting number searched separately doesn't work
- searching for n00b guide finds nothing relevant

Then I'm a n00b at that site, so I might have n00b'ed it.

Motomodders.net appears to have made some changes to their site. I've found their search function to suck big time. I still use the direct menus at the top of the page to get to their firmware pages.

You have to register on the site to download the n00b guide. I have a free membership. Maybe they don't offer free ones anymore, but if all they're asking is $5 then it is well worth it. I agree with ShoresGuy that their search function is not as good as it used to be though.
