Images: 168 | After 1 year, 3 months, and 19 days Firstly of all this device is unbranded and unlocked dirctly from Palm. Although it has the AT&T 3G frequencies, an US provider has not picked it up yet. What came in the box: 1. Treo Pro with battery installed. 2. Quick Start Brochure 3. Charge/Synch cable. 4. Power Adapter. 1st. Impressions: 1. It is very slim with a shiny black finish. 2. Built quality is excellent, and I have to admit better than the 750. 3. The screen resolution is gorgeous. Pros: 1. The call clarity is even superior to the Treo 750. 2. The reception is execellent even in places where coverage is poor to non-existant. 3. The earpiece is quite loud even in the lowest setting. 4 The Speaker is very loud and clear. 5. The processor is much faster than the 750. 6. Great form factor, light and easy to hold 7. The vibrate is loud. 8. The battery life is phenomenal for a WM PDAPhone. 9. The standalone GPS can get a satellite fix quickly and works flawlessly with Google Maps. 10. Sprite Backup came pre-installed. 11. Screen Saver with date and time. It shows missed calls, voicemail, SMS/MMS Cons: 1. The keys are smaller and more cramped than the Treo 750 and it took me some to get used to. 2. The black finish shows finger prints and smudges boldly. 3. No indication for new E-Mail 4. Micro SD card located under battery door. 5. Soft Reset located under battery door. What was very easy to do: 1. Blue tooth pairing with my laptop. 2. Setting up Active Sync. 3. Setting up my 2 pop3 E-Mails Third Party Applications Installed. 1. EZQUOTE 2. MemMaid 3. Weather Panel 4. Dictionary 5. Electrical Calculations 6. Magic SS 7. Today Agenda 8. Celurion's side button

Excellent review Charlyee. Thanks for posting it. When I first heard initial impressions on this device others were saying that the smaller keys would be a problem. That is good to hear that you got used to the keys. How is the battery life with your device? Have you tested the average talk time (including data and other features used during the day)? It is good to hear that you are enjoying your new device.

The smaller keys were definitely a problem for me initially. I haven't actually done much testing of battery life but I have been making much more than average calls due to the situation at home. I am also playing with it and installing and uninstalling applications, with that it is around 20% remaining at night. Thanks Joe. I am glad it meets your approval.

Hi Charlyee, Nice review. I also looked at the Treo web page. Looks like a nice phone and good upgrade from the 750. Do I dare ask how much you paid for it? |

As it turned out it was really a good buy, it is very low profile and gives adequate protection. I had to cut out slots for the side button but other than that no complaints.

Half Way Around The World With My Treo Pro -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I took my TP to India, part site seeing, part visiting relatives. The device performed flawlesslessly - data, SMS, E-Mail, GPS: Specially the GPS, it was neat to get a GPS fix on the different landmarks including my ancestral home (where I was born) and add them to my favorites in Google Maps. In the manual mode it would see 6 networks but whatever I chose, in a very short time it would usually put me back on Vodaphone IN, they must be in cahoots with AT&T. In the Automatic mode it was always Vodaphone. The only exception was at the airports where it would be AirTel. In and around a bird sanctuary in a rather remote location, there was perfect signal on Oasis, a small regional provider limited to NC India. Interesting experience with Palm ---------------------------------------------- I found out just before I left that my device did not come with the stereo headphone as the box said, I called Palm and they promised to send one out right away. When I came back I found that Palm had sent me a whole new unit. I called and explained to them, they told me to take the headphone out of the new one and to send it back after they send me a return label. I don't have a return label yet, I hope they will be E-Mailing me a retirn label and not another whole unit again.

My Treo Pro is 2 months old today. I just put on BodyGuardz for the back & am going to go w/o the case. I can honestly say the TP has the best reception, call clarity & the most stable OS of any PDAPhone or PDA I have ever had. With the few extra goodies like WiFi & GPS added, I definitely made the right decision to get this. Palm850/v0100 Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows CE; IEMobile 7.11) |

As to the Treo Pro, it will be 10 months old & is the best device I have had to date in all respects. I also enjoy the fact that it is unique & not everyone owns one. I had a minor problem with the case & Palm replaced it with a refurb, then recently the refurb had the same problem & now Palm is sending me a new device with the full one more year warranty from when I receive it. The new units are on back order so Palm sent me a vehicle charger to ease the pain of waiting. I have had nothing but good experience with my Treos & every other Palm device I have had prior to that & now certainly their handling of problems. I have been a die hard Palm fan & plan to remain so, I do hope they bring out a GSM Palm OS device with a bar form factor. Btw, I enjoy reading your posts very much, it is always nice to see a knowledgeable & mature young person & specially one so interested in cell towets. As you may have noticed, I am usually in the habit of writing a book as an answer to a simple yes or no question, so I hope you got your answer & don't mind the earful Palm850/v0100 Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows CE; IEMobile 7.11) | |
