I am very surprised no one here has posted anything about this device yet. This thing is just awesome, features & looks. And this is from someone who isn't the biggest SE fan. It is looking like T-Mobile will pick it up from what I have read, but AT&T could also pick it up too. Sony Ericsson's XPERIA X1 QWERTY with Windows Mobile and HSUPA - Engadget When this device comes out and who ever has 3G in my area up by that time might have a new customer. I will more then likely be ditching my Dobson/AT&T line very soon, and play the waiting game. The network is horrible for PDA use right now, and the price isn't worth the quality service yet.

From what I have read either carrier can pick it up. But their seems to be a bigger buzz around some of the T-Mobile forums. Do you have any links saying Cingular will be picking this one up?

no links, but look at the sony relationship, just came out with several new sonys, 3 more coming, then there will be another 3. the x1 also is geared towards 3G and bands of 3G that ATT uses. it could goto TMOB but i highly doubt it.

Very true about the relationship between SE & AT&T. I have been hearing that their are a couple of SE phone being tested by T-Mobile, and will probably be released in the near future. Also T-Mobile will be launching 3G this summer on the 1700 MHz band which the X1 has. But with all this said the phone can be unlocked to use on any network.

yep. just make sure not to brick it. honestly it could end up on both networks, who konws. dont forget TMOB is not the only company that will run 1700, ATT will also and they already have a working and proven 3G just food for thought. e. |

Brick a phone from unlocking it, never heard such a thing. From flashing a ROM or software, yes. And I wish I could agree with the working & proven part of AT&T 3G, but have have had issues with it so far. I for one would just love for them to come out here and get EDGE working smoothly.

It will be a long while before we get AT&T 3G here. I am in a Dobson area that AT&T purchased late last year. The data side of things are horrible on this network for PDA/smartphones. Also when in SoCal the 3G network was like swiss cheese, man it was nice when it was their. Also having no 3G at McCarran Airport in Las Vegas was a shock, but the EDGE speeds were very quick though.

I have had good luck with with high end Samsung phones. So I think its the network in my area. I didn't have any problems speed wise in SoCal or Vegas, just here at home. BTW I switched the line to Sprint, so the phone is going back real soon. |
