I read over on SU that there is an "unofficial" ROM update out that enables GPS and Rev. A on Sprint Mogul's. I downloaded the update and installed it with no problems. The menus and overall speed of the Mogul seems faster. Internet pages also seem to load faster (I won't know for sure until I perform some speed tests within the next few days). I will also be testing out GPS on the way to school this evening to see if it works (via Google Maps). One of the nice features is that there is a "X" button on the top right corner of the screen that allows you to exit out of programs and show the available system memory percentage left. I will also be testing out bluetooth to see if it is better. Here is the link: http://www.leetbaka.com/su/MOGUL_3_16_BETA.exe username: sprintusers password: gosprintspeed Another link: RUU_TITAN_SPRINT_WWE_3_1_.16.651.0_435009_RS3_27_0 0_SPCS_NV124.zip (Be sure that it is a .exe. file after downloading but before running the program....if not right click and rename to .exe) NOTE: As noted on SU, please do this at your OWN risk. Also, follow all of the instructions. It seems that the people that are having the most problems have a custom loaded ROM on their Moguls. If you have the stock ROM, you should be fine.

Well so far, I like the update. My device seems faster, the bluetooth has improved (I now have higher volume on my Garmin Nuvi 660), and IE pages seem to load faster. Overall, I like this unofficial update and once the update becomes official, I will load it on my Mogul.

i tried doin the rom update but it gets stuck at 11% then it stops saying ERROR code e-90 or somethin like that stating "Invalid Command". i looked in the view readme instructions and error troubleshooting and i found no solution or even the error code i was getting. also notice right after it stops updating the screen goes all grey in the middle of the screen you see for a split second "no image file" then it goes to the red, green, white bars making me reinstall the newest official rom update the 2.17...just to get it functioning again...was wondering if you had some tips. you also said that it may not work with a custom rom but i've restored everything to original software and rom...so i'm not thinking that is the issue. also read in the ppcgeeks forum that you may need to download a relocker or something like that?...anyways i would greatly appreciate it if you guys helped me get this workin cause i'm dying to get test out the gps on my mogul. |

Another tip is to make sure that you follow every step prior to hooking up your Mogul via USB. Other than that, if it still doesn't work, I would downgrade to the latest ROM and then wait until it officially comes out.

Images: 68 | That's interesting. Anyway, I would follow the steps that Yankees said to in the link. And if that doesn't work, then I would just wait until it becomes official.

Does the update you posted enable GPS, or do I need to follow the instructions Yankees posted to get the GPS working? Also, is google maps an app I have to load on the Mogul? I have succesfully updated to the newer ROM so we will see how it goes.

Images: 68 | I got GPS to work by simply installing the new update. I also installed Google Maps on the device and NOT on the storage card (I don't know if it makes a difference). The only downside to the GPS is that you have to be pretty much outside for it to track your location. Other than that, the update so far seems to improved my device.

Hey guys - having a prob. I have the latest update on my phone from sprint - and I'm trying to install this beta one. Well, i turn on mobile device center, get it all connected and everything (I'm using Vista btw), start the update. It goes to the normal colored screen, unsyncs for a second, reconnects to windows, and then Mobile Device center just tanks on me. (it just closes) and the update can't finish. It doesnt' erase anything, so I just restart. I tried reinstalling it on the computer but it's still not working. Anyways, I would prefer an email at jdlockhart@gmail.com if it's not too much trouble but I'll try to check back on here. THanks!!

Well so far so "Great". The update seams to have fixed the bluetooth issue I have been having. Not sure if I notice any speed increase on surfing though, but I don't get on the net much from my phone anyways. I will try out the GPS tomorrow.

Images: 68 | I too noticed that the BT issue has been fixed. As for the internet speeds on IE, I have noticed a slight increase but nothing noticeable. Also, the GPS is nice but I have to be outside to use it. I would rather use my Garmin Nuvi 660 since it has a SiRF StarIII receiver in it that provides coverage even inside.

I've been playing with the Alltel Versions, having some problems connecting to EVDO, even after using EPST to put correct data connection paramaters in....
