Default Youtube on your WM device!

OK, Give big thanks to Malatesta & zbop for this little tutarial

Okay folks, here is another method to stream Youtube (if you're really into that kinda thing, personally...I ain't... )

This uses TCPMP 0.81 (or the older 0.7x series) and will stream via the real YouTube site, as opposed to the "mobile".

It's also a bit more simple, has better quality, more available videos.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

(1) Download THIS FILE

(2) Install TCPMP (if you don't already have it)

(3) Copy the codec files (AAC is optional) to the \Player directory

(4) Change your TCPMP settings (Options, Settings, Buffering, Preload at underrun to 5%). I found 10% is fine too.

(5) Make sure under Options->Settings->File Associations that the box next to "M3U" is checked

(6) Go to http://www.tinytube.it/mobile.aspx and search for youtube videos, choose Search "youtube" and "Play with TCPMP"

Give props to zbop for doing the hardworkd of relaying this to TreoCentral!! :thumbleft: (original thread)

Also, from zbop:

EDIT: You will need to periodically cleanup the leftover playlist files (.m3u) that are in the "\My Documents" folder on your Treo.

Also, the search site is a little buggy. You will get ASPX errors or "file not found" errors if you:
- enter a search string that returns no videos
- if your session times out
- if it doesn't correctly parse the video-ID from the .swf file.

Bundey,
I tried this out but could not get it to work on my Mogul. When I click the link to actually pull up the video, it opens Windows Media player and then gives me an error. Any ideas? It's not like I am going to be using this all the time, just wanted to try and get it working.

Someone didn't read very carefully.

"This uses TCPMP 0.81 (or the older 0.7x series)"

It will not work in WMP! TCPMP is a sweet audio/video player, it's way better then WMP.

Do you by chance know of any methods to make this work on Palm OS?

I never used the POS. Did try it but didn't like it.

So I have no ideaif it will work, but you may want to search over at Treo Central

Come on Bundey I read your post, I just wasn't clear in my post. I installed TCPMP and made sure the file associations were correct but it still pulls up WMP instead of TCPMP when clicking on a link to a video?

Ha ha ha, when I read this post I read POS and was wondering what you were refering to as a POS (Piece of S**). Then I read the previous post which cleared things up!

Glad you liked my play on abbreviations.

I believe their is a new/better way to to this if I read some new thread titles right. I will look into it this weekend. But you will be on your own I never tried any of this, and don't plan on it.

And of course, the developers who originally created TCPMP.

Notes:
Feel free to redistribute FlashVideoBundle, but please link back to this thread so that others can report problems or make requests. Also note that some of the components in this CAB are covered by GPL and should be distributed appropriately:

In keeping with the GPL, the source code is available HERE and below.
EDIT: once I figure out how to get past the size restrictions.

For more information, also check the README-fvb.txt file once installed.

Caveats:
Requires pocket IE. This plugin will not work with Opera, NetFront, Picsel, etc. However, it is compatible with PiePlus.

Special thanks go out to Fabio for making the streaming mods to the FLV plugin. If you need a good video search site that is mobile-friendly, please visit his site, mobytube.net
